Rustic and romantic, Lains Barn offers a whole host of indoor and outdoor areas for couples and their guests to enjoy. The timber-framed space features a stunning main barn, festoon light-lined gallery, custom-built bar, beautiful tiled floor, and large wooden doors that open onto a lawned courtyard, ideal for outdoor celebrations and ceremonies. Lains is a family-run venue, and the team has over 50 years of experience in catering, weddings, and events. They offer couples a wealth of knowledge and support to ensure the big day runs perfectly. You can always expect a warm reception! Catering is carried out in-house to a very high standard. The menus have been curated with seasonality and variety in mind, whether preparing a fine dining banquet or firing up the pizza oven and Argentinian grills for an evening under the stars. A fully licensed bar is available and they have a comprehensive selection of wine and champagne packages to choose from. Lains is located near the charming market town of Wantage, with a breathtaking backdrop of the North Wessex Downs’ rolling hills. It is a quintessentially rural setting in the heart of Oxfordshire. The barn is easily accessible by road and has great links to the M4 and M40. Didcot train station is just 10 minutes away, and you can get into London in under 40 minutes. Lains Barn is also proud to present their sister venue of Barton House, just 2 minutes down the road, that offers up 9 bedrooms (sleeping 18) giving you and your nearest and dearest a chance to relax and get ready away from the hubbub of the outside world. Please note, hire of Barton House is an additional cost not included in the price of the hire of Lains Barn.

Rachel was incredibly responsive and helpful throughout the entire process, taking so much stress away and always going above and beyond — nothing was ever too much trouble. We got married on 29th May 2026 and had the most incredible day. From start to finish, everything ran so smoothly and we couldn't have asked for a better venue. A special thank you to Katie, who was absolutely fantastic. She kept everything on schedule, made sure every detail was taken care of, and helped the whole day flow seamlessly. Her professionalism, organisation, and calm presence meant we could relax and enjoy every moment. Many of our guests commented that it was the "best pie they'd ever tasted". Most importantly, the organisation from Rachel beforehand and Katy & team on the day was absolutely seamless - they had thought of absolutely everything and we didn't have to worry about anything on the day. Fantastic wedding venue! We had our wedding here in November and it was the perfect day. Martin and Rachel were communicative and friendly in the planning for the day and everything was straightforward. On the day we had a fantastic wedding coordinator Katy who ran the day flawlessly. The food was incredible - we chose the pie menu and we had multiple people say to us it was the best food they had ever had at a wedding. The team, particularly Martin, Rachel and Katy were fantastic at answering our questions and supporting in planning our day. The day itself went seamlessly - I was so shocked at how much we didn’t have to worry or think about anything! What’s your favourite personal touch you’ve seen at a wedding?

One of our favourite things is when couples hang strings of photos along the old wooden troughs in the bar. The photos might be of themselves through the years, and they sometimes include ones of friends and family as well. It creates lovely talking points between those who might not have seen each other for a while, and gives great fun to guests to try and find themselves!
