The hotel is nestled in the heart of picturesque and vibrant Stevenage Old Town and is steeped in history – it was once the home of John Thurloe, secretary and master spy to Oliver Cromwell. The hotel perfectly blends original character with contemporary style and provides an ideal setting for your special day, be it a small intimate affair or a lavish celebration on a grand scale. We are licensed for both indoor and outdoor ceremonies in our beautiful gazebo. We offer various packages for your big day and would love the opportunity to personally show you the beautiful facilities we have here and to discuss your requirements with you. Newly refurbished, the Hotel Cromwell is a beautiful 16th Century building, making it a unique venue for a wedding. We are perfectly located in the historic Stevenage Old Town High Street and only a 5 minute drive to the A1M and the train station. We have our esteemed Cromwell Suite in which we can hold your special day. The Cromwell Suite opens out onto our landscaped garden area which is perfect for your drinks reception and photographs.

Everyone I spoke to from the staff at reception to both managers that came in during set up were so incredibly helpful and polite, it really does make such a difference working in a space where staff are so welcoming. The Cromwell is such a beautiful wedding venue and it was a joy to see one of my cakes set up in such a beautiful setting. Thank you to you all at the Cromwell for having me. Hotel Cromwell itself is beautiful, with lots of different spaces inside and out for photographs. It is down to earth and very reasonably priced. They are also dog friendly! The lead up to the wedding was totally stress free. Lina answered all our questions and we were kept informed the whole way through. On the day itself, the staff went above and beyond. Megan coordinated everything perfectly and was a calming presence. Everything ran on time and all our special requests were catered for. Our vendors all spoke very highly of the Hotel Cromwell, saying how welcome they felt and how easy set up/pack down was for them. The suite was beautiful and the staff were so helpful moving us from our prep room to the suite before the wedding. The venue also gifted us a lovely drawing of the hotel by a local artist when we left which is honestly one of the best gifts we received! Every single member of the team was so helpful and friendly and professional. We cant thank them enough for the best day and run up to the wedding.We knew we wanted to book this venue from the moment we attended an open day. All I can say is this venue exceeded my expectations greatly. From our first initial show around to all the email correspondence in helping us with arrangements and bookings we could not have had a more enjoyable experience. We hired both the Cromwell Suite for our wedding reception and the Bourchier suite for our wedding breakfast and we could not fault anything at all. The food was absolutely stunning and we had so many compliments on the venue! The buffet sausage rolls need their own shout out as guests are still raving about them now! In terms of the fabulous staff, we had the pleasure of planning our whole day with Paul Bond the Wedding & Events Manager who literally did everything to ensure our wedding would be perfect! He went above and beyond by adding additional personal touches to the day and also reminded me of things that did not even cross my mind! Also, Megan Whichelow the Conference & Banqueting Manager who did EVERYTHING on the day of the wedding. We literally did not have raise a finger! Her and her team literally had everything under control and I have never felt such relief to not have to do anything! Both Paul and Megan are genuinely the nicest, most caring and attentive people I have ever met and they take such beautiful pride in their roles! Also: I would like to say how amazing the rest of the staff were from the amazing receptionists who greeted us with such glee to Jamie - Lee who was running around in the morning of the wedding ensuring we had breakfast and coffees available! If the rain rolls into Stevenage, our beautiful and elegant suites become your backdrop to ensure your celebration doesn't miss a beat.

We have 77 x rooms at the hotel each one seamlessly blends historical vintage charm with bold, contemporary design.
We also have two signature suites for you to choose from on your wedding night! We have the split-level Naseby Suite (featuring a distinct two-floor layout blending contemporary and Victorian styles) and the stunning Astley Suite; beautifully decorated with a calming palette and luxurious accessories to shut out the outside world. It features a brilliant connecting room, giving your bridesmaids or groomsmen plenty of space to get ready, pour some bubbly, and share those emotional morning moments.

The Big Decision! How Do We Officially Lock In Our Date So Nobody Steals It? 🔒
It’s super simple! Once you fall in love with a date, we can hold it provisionally for you. To make it officially yours, we just require a signed contract and a non-refundable deposit.
After that, the date is no longer day, month and year but known only as your WEDDING DAY - let the countdown begin 🎉
