Friars Court occupies a small but unique niche as a venue which specialises purely and exclusively in ceremonies and small wedding breakfast receptions.
Enclosed by the remaining arms of a 16th century moat and surrounded by three acres of sweeping lawns, trees, borders and garden ‘rooms’, the current Cotswold stone manor house has stood, near the River Thames, for the best part of 400 years. Our licensed ceremony locations range from the intimacy of the Red Dining Room to the more contemporary Garden Room and from the Swedish Summer with its lavender hedges to the romantic, moat-side Rose Arbour. We welcome civil, celebrant-led, and faith-based ceremonies for up 80 people.
For smaller receptions, the Garden Room suits a wedding breakfast up to around 40 people. Thanks to the picture windows overlooking the grounds and the glazed roof apex, the Garden Room is flooded with natural light even on the dreariest of days. Hired as a blank canvas, the Garden Room offers couples a rare opportunity to stamp their personal taste and style on almost every aspect of their wedding: from the shape and size of the tables; the style and finish of their chairs through to as much personalising décor as they want to add. Jeffrey, who runs the wedding business, is also a trained interior designer and always on hand to advise and guide or look after style and dressing the wedding.
With over 500 weddings celebrated over the best part of 20 years we’ve built up the knowledge, experience and contacts to really help prospective couples through the process of creating their dream wedding freed from the restrictions of set packages, set menus, set suppliers and minimum numbers.
