The Old Palace

Beyond the walls of the Palace lies the enchanting Knot Garden, a masterpiece of landscape design. This verdant oasis is perfect for a drinks reception, where guests can wander along intricate pathways, surrounded by impeccably manicured hedges and blooming flowers, with the Raised Lawn offering a serene backdrop for outdoor celebrations and lawn games.
The Riding School
For celebrations that require more space without sacrificing style, The Riding School presents an impeccable choice. Nestled in the picturesque Stable Yard, the space is flooded with natural light and architectural highlights, perfect for ceremonies for up to 120 guests.
The Riding School is a harmonious blend of history and contemporary design. Its interior is adorned with original wooden beams that echo the building’s rich past. The striking glass roof bathes the space in natural light, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere, while the exquisite leaded windows offer views of the courtyard, adding to the venue’s enchanting character.
The Riding School may be hired independently or in conjunction with the Old Palace. Both the Old Palace and the Riding School are licensed for civil ceremonies and benefit from ample free parking, as well as direct train links, with Hatfield Train Station located adjacent to Hatfield Park.

This was also the first place we went on a date after moving to the area! The venue were very helpful and accommodating to our drink requests and allowing us to decorate the palace exactly how we wanted it. Although there were a few hiccups on the way, everything turned out perfectly as far as we were concerned on the day (and thank you for you and your team packing everything in my car)! We are so grateful you came into our lives just when things were really starting to get stress.Now that we are off the wedding bubble we wanted to drop you a line to say thank you very much for all your hard work and please pass on our thanks to Sara, Chris, Alessio and all the staff behind the kitchen and bar! When issues arose e.g I didn’t like my bouquet the florist delivered on the day, Monika made me one herself from the flowers on the tables! The tables were decorated beautifully and the flowers were in full bloom in the gardens on our August wedding day. There were some small issues later in the evening such as it was difficult to find someone to help turn off the background music for the speeches in the evening and the cake was placed against the wall so we had to pull the table away from the wall to cut the cake (without having our backs to our guests) but these were minor things that happened after Monika had finished her shift for the day! The history of Hatfield has great significance to me so I wouldn't have wanted our reception to be anywhere else. However, the management of the venue changed hands during our wedding planning process and at first we had a coordinator that replied quickly and was very helpful - although did overpromise on certain points - but once she left and we were handed over to the new company, the communication was terrible. I would send emails and not ever get a reply particularly on key points like booking our food tasting - in the end I had to call up Hatfield several times to organise it. For the amount on money we spent on the venue, you really do expect more. Food was good but not outstanding.
