Macdonald Houstoun House

After a very rough year from a personal perspective, we were banking on our big day being THE day of the year and the start of a new chapter, and oh my, it SO SO was! Charlotte, Andrew, and their team did and incredible job from start to finish in making our day exactly how we wanted it to be. It was full of love and laughter, and everyone had the time of their lives. We chose Houstoun House because they gave us FULL flexibility to get what we wanted out of the day and nothing was ever too much trouble. We honestly wish we could go back and do it all over again. Thank you so much to everyone involved at Houstoun House and we’ll definitely be back! ❤️

We had our wedding at Houstoun House on the 22nd September and we can not describe how amazing the day was, primarily down to the venue and the fantastic team who went above and beyond to make it the day we had dreamed of. We had viewed Houstoun as a potential venue as it had a personal connection to us when we had stayed as guests before. We knew within minutes it was going to be where we had our special day and from that moment the service and support (even through my mini meltdowns) the team went gone above and beyond. Charlotte is an excellent co-ordinator and nothing we asked for, or had queries over, were too much. We shared our special day with our son on his birthday and from arranging a special breakfast with the family, decorating the room to the presentation of his cake to him during the speeches as a surprise, he (as well as myself and my husband) loved every minute of it and felt so special throughout. All the hospitality staff were welcoming and professional, special mention to Chris for dealing with my dad who loves a moan (although nothing to moan about!) to himself! All the guests commented on how beautiful the venue was, and enjoyed the meal and buffet as well as the excellent fireworks we had within the package. We had a lot of guests stay at the hotel too and they were all extremely happy with their rooms. I would highly recommend this venue to those looking for a beautiful venue with the best staff I’ve encountered in a long time! Although the main factor is Charlotte as she truly is amazing at her job and strives to do everything to make your day the way you dream!

I honestly can’t thank Houstoun house enough for everything they did for mine and kierin’s special day. Charlotte was truly amazing took on all our requests and made the day run so smoothly, Charlotte and all the staff where so accommodating too all our guests also and they could of not been more helpful from start to finish. Also Andrew was incredible and made our daughter feel so welcome and happy in the hotel. They made all our guest feel so welcome☺️They have all been amazing and I would highly recommend houstoun house to anyone for anything. We can’t not wait to come back and spend time in the hotel. Our wedding day was made extra special with everything the staff at Houstoun house did and it will truly be a day we will never forget and I wish we could do it all over again words will never be enough to say how truly happy we are with everything. If you are looking for a venue for your wedding, literally look no further than Macdonald Houstoun House. In all honestly, I found this venue by accident whilst looking for a spa day for my hen do. I noticed that they did weddings, organised an appointment to speak to Caroline who was the wedding co-ordinator at the time and had a show round. Afterwards, my now husband and I sat in the car, looked at each other and said 'This is the place, this is where we're getting married'. We began organising everything and nothing was ever too much. Any request we had was added in, including playing a prank on one of our guests during dinner. Charlotte took over as wedding co-ordinator, and she was just incredible. Every little question I had, she was there to answer it. Organising a wedding is one of the most stressful things I've ever done, and she was there to help smooth over every little worry I had. The day finally came, and from minute 1, everything went smoothly. The continental breakfast I had ordered for myself and bridesmaid arrived at 8am, and we were offered further meats and cheese which we gratefully took! The breakfast was delicious, and was excellent for filling us up for the day. We even ordered more toast and croissants later on, which were delivered promptly. We had arranged a first look with my Dad and step-Dad, Charlotte kept everyone back until we were ready and it went flawlessly. We were even ahead of schedule! We headed down to the ceremony, all the guests were inside and waiting for us. Two members of staff waited at the doors, waiting for the go ahead from Charlotte to open the doors and let us walk down the aisle to some very specifically timed music! The ceremony went beautifully, we had so many compliments about it but that was all down to the fantastic Robert Anthony. Afterwards, we had some pictures taken while the guests enjoyed drinks and canopies. I only got to sneak one and Doug had two, but they were absolutely delicious! The time came for dinner, and all the guests were moved into the next room. Doug and I had switched at our footwear at this point, reception doing us a big favour by taking our fancy shoes for us so we weren't late to dinner! We had a buffet style dinner so guests could choose what they wanted to eat, and everything was incredible. So much food, everything was delicious, and everyone was happy (a miracle!). We then moved into the pub whilst the room was turned around, which is a stunning area. Our guests from America especially loved it! The room was turned into our dance hall for the night, and we were again introduced in by the DJ. We elected to go with the DJ that Houstoun House provided, and I would honestly recommend everyone to do the same. I'm ashamed to say I've forgotten his name, but trust me, get this guy! We cut the cake, had our first dance, and the night went on. Around 9pm, we had filled rolls out for people to eat as well as our cake. You can choose how your cake is served, we just got each tier served so guests could choose which flavour they wanted. I want to do a massive shout out to all the staff involved in our day. Every single one was amazing, congratulating us, nothing was ever too much, they did made the day go so wonderfully. If there were any issues, we never knew about them. And finally to Charlotte. You will not find a better wedding co-ordinator in my opinion. She was there when we needed her, made everything go according to schedule, and nothing went wrong. Our music was played, the little requests we had made were fulfilled, just everything to make our day perfect. I said it at the start, but I'll say it again. If you're looking for a venue, Macdonald Houstoun House is your venue.

From our original viewing of the venue to the check out the day after the wedding, the staff at Houstoun House were absolutely brilliant. We were looked after every step of the way, nothing was a bother and the day itself ran flawlessly. The food was amazing and the set up of the venue is exactly how we asked. If there was any little things that we needed fixed or changed, they were instantly done and all our guests complemented the staff’s kindness and sincerity to help out. A massive shout out has to go to the events manager Charlotte Lambie who was amazing in helping us with everything and was so supportive, kind and organised. She is a true credit to the team at Houstoun House.

We will just get straight into it. Honestly one of the best days of our lives which couldn't have been made easier for us by Charlotte and the wonderful staff at Macdonald Houston House. Our intial venue sadly went into liquidation but Charlotte and the team at Houston House were so understanding and able to create the wedding of our dreams with only about 6 months notice. The day flowed seamlessly and we did not need to worry about a thing and could thoroughly enjoy our day. The level of organisation that Charlotte and the staff displayed was unreal. Nothing stopped us from enjoying our day. The venue itself is stunning and we can't wait to see our pictures. The food is probably the best wedding breakfast we have tasted and they catered for all of our guests dietary needs and at very reasonable price. They were also very flexible with the accomodations available at the hotel and offered a great rate guests chosing to stay. Considering we only had about 6 months to rearrange our wedding, Charlotte provided an amazing vendor lists which helped massively. We were pretty relaxed going in and Charlotte did a lot of the work for us. It really took the heat off us. Could not recommend this venue and the wonderful staff more. If you want a stunning venue, with a high standard and as little stress as possible, we fully recommend the MacDonald Houston House Hotel. You will not be disappointed.
