Best day of our lives
We cannot recommend the Horn of Plenty enough. We got married there on 30th May and hired the whole hotel. It’s beautiful, the food (bespoke, thanks Kit) and service amazing. The wedding planning team were unbelievably helpful. All our guests have said they have never attended anything as magical (and we aren’t young so they have seen lots!). The dogs enjoyed it too. We are fortunate the live local so have already been back for a delicious lunch.

Fantastic location with amazing views. Professional kind reassuring informative wedding planners Jess& Shirna. Nothing was too much trouble. Accommodation fabulous, dogs allowed on the ground floor rooms. Kit the Chef… menu planning was made easy with his suggestions and everyone loved it on the day. Well presented and tasted amazing. All staff were friendly and helpful. We would 100% recommend The Horn of Plenty for your wedding you certainly will not be disappointed.

Our Perfect Venue
What an amazing venue, Shirna and Jess couldn't do more for us and nothing was too much. We knew on our first visit that this was the venue for us. They helped us plan the day and gave us lists of recommended local suppliers (all who we used were brilliant) and things we needed to do at different times, to make sure we stayed on top of our wedding prep. For someone who had no idea about wedding logistics this was so helpful. We met with the chef to discuss our meal options and came up with the most delicious wedding menu, so many compliments from our guests on how incredible the food was. For anyone reading this who is interested our main meals were beef wellington, mushroom wellington and duck breast. These were as delicious on the day as they were at our tasting meal. We hired the whole hotel for the day with 70 guests for the day and 120 in the evening. I was slightly worried it might be a bit cramped but actually it wasn't at all and everyone stayed together, danced, drank and ate cake! We had a few children with us during the day, ages from 18months to 15years and they were as looked after as all the adults. Our wedding was in March so we didn't expect glorious weather but we managed a coffetti photo and some of just the two of us outside. We then had a few family photos in the library when the rain came. The rooms were all lovely, I stayed in room 4 the night before the wedding, and room 15 the night of the wedding, both beautiful and spacious. It was lovely to get ready in the hotel the morning of the wedding (highly recommend this to brides), with a big enough room to have all my bridesmaids in with me. The staff on the day were incredible and they made the day run so smoothly, we didn't need to worry about anything and could fully embrace our wedding day. Without a doubt the right choice for our wedding and anyone considering the Horn of Plenty as a venue you won't regret it. Beautiful scenery, wonderful staff, great food and having the whole hotel to ourselves, we couldn't have dreamed of a more perfect wedding.
Response from the venue
Thank you for this wonderful review. We thoroughly enjoyed planning your wedding with you and looking after your delightful guests on the day. Rain definitely didn't spoil your day! We look forward to seeing you again soon.

Long distance organisation was easy
We do not live locally to the venue so were doing everything by phone/email etc. But Shirna and her team were always responsive to messages and we always felt that our wedding was in 'safe hands' . Nothing was too much trouble for us or our guests - everyone was taken care of, including two elderly family members with wheelchairs. Our guests were so impressed with our choice of venue, and as the weather was so lovely, it made it just perfect. The views are stunning and the sunset was beautiful

Very Disappointing
We booked this venue in 2023 after reading all the great reviews, little did we know it had just been taking over by different people. So as for all of the award wins for fine dining ignore them! the food couldn’t have been worse if I’m completely honest. how you can over cook a steak and serve it cold is beyond me. Soup was cold and poured over one of my guests and to top it off the next day at breakfast i had orange juice poured all over me. Most of the staff were really rude and we were made to feel like we were in the way constantly, not what you expect on your wedding day. We did only book the venue out till five so even though we had booked eight of our 16 rooms, we were then ushered out of public room and told to go upstairs, even though my stepchildren were in the middle of playing a game of chess, they were told to carry it upstairs midway through their game, because the 2 other guests, we’re obviously more important then us. We were made to feel like we were just in the way the whole time. we stayed the night before to and the steak was actually better than it was on my wedding day, we were told that they wouldn’t do a medium well steak because the chef wouldn’t cook a well done steak which is ironic considering mine came out overcooked when I’d asked for it to be rare. on the wedding day it wasn’t even a fillet steak which is what we had payed for, I would call it more of a medallion it was very poor. This was the feeling that all of my guest came away with, which is really upsetting that, thats how my wedding day is going be remembered. This is such a shame because the venue is absolutely beautiful and the views are amazing.
Response from the venue
We are really saddened to read this review and to see that you don't have a positive memory of your day. Our other reviews show that our couples do have a wonderful day with us and we are sorry that we missed the mark on this occasion. Unfortunately mistakes sometimes happen and when we know about them, we aim to sort them at the time so that small errors don't escalate. We can only apologise and hope that in time you will be able to look back at the positives and joy of the day.
