From the soaring oak-beamed Great Hall, to the contemporary glass wall of the Foyle Gallery, Dragon Hall offers a stunning setting for your wedding day. Fully licensed for weddings and civil partnerships, we host beautiful ceremonies, receptions and evening parties. We offer a Wedding Package that gives you the time and flexibility to relax and enjoy your special day. The Package includes: - Exclusive use of the Great Hall, Gallery and Medieval Courtyard Garden spaces - Use of the venue across THREE DAYS, so you have plenty of time to set up and add your personal finishing touches - A dedicated Wedding & Events Manager to assist you with your plans during the months, weeks and days leading up to your special day - Two discreet venue managers and SIA Licensed door support, responsible for overseeing the building and ensuring your day runs smoothly - Ceremony and dining space for 10 to 90 guests - Chairs and tables for 10 to 90 dining guests - Party space for 120 guests - Use of a private retiring room for you and your celebrant - Use of a kitchen and an approved list of caterers (catering, tableware and decorations not included) - Full disabled access and a hearing loop in the Great Hall - Use of all audio-visual equipment - A cultivated book bundle, curated by our team here at the National Centre for Writing, to thank you for supporting our work Our magnificent building is home to the National Centre for Writing, a literary charity helping writers at all stages of their careers. All proceeds generated through weddings and events support our charitable work and the restoration and maintenance of Dragon Hall. We offer a flat-rate package, year round! Our package includes: Exclusive use of the venue across three days (usually Friday – Sunday), so you have plenty of time to set up and add your personal finishing touches. An Events Manager as your dedicated point of contact leading up to, and during, your special day. Venue management and door support on the day. Use of a kitchen and an approved list of caterers*. Furniture hire. On site bar provider. Disabled access and a hearing loop in the Great Hall. Use of all audio-visual equipment. A specially curated book bundle from the National Centre for Writing. *Please note that catering is not included as do not have an in-house catering, but you would have a wide selection of approved caterers to choose from.

The best day of our lives
We knew Dragon Hall was the right venue for us since the first time we visited but Christina and the team have completely exceeded our expectations. The venue looked absolutely amazing and all our guests loved it. We were hosting a wedding with lots of guests travelling from Spain and Christina and the team made sure to include little ‘Spanish’ touches that made everyone feel welcome. If you are thinking of booking Dragon Hall for your big day, don’t hesitate and do it! It was simply the day of our dreams!

Amazing wedding!!
Dragon Hall was an amazing venue to have our wedding. It is beautiful, lots of history and an incredible team. Christina was very laid back and helpful, and couldn’t have asked for a better venue coordinator. She brought calm presence on a stressful day that just made us feel more relaxed but confident she and the team had everything under control. We could not recommend Dragon Hall enough to engaged couples!

The most special venue for our most special day
There are not the right words to say that could thank Christina and the team at Dragon Hall for their help prior to and especially at our wedding. They all went above and beyond in accommodating and looking after everyone - we cannot overstate how much the thoughtfulness and kindness from all the team. All of our guests have not stopped raving about both the venue and also about every member of staff who helped out at Dragon Hall to say how helpful and considerate everyone was, ensuring that the day ran as smoothly as it did. We have received multiple comments from guests who have said that Christina is the best wedding coordinator they have seen and we would have to agree! We will forever be incredibly proud and grateful that we got married at Dragon Hall!

Brilliant Wedding Experience!
What a unique and beautiful space! The weather let us down on the big day, but that was more than ok with such a gorgeous venue. The hall space upstairs is so full of natural light and charm. The downstairs has a lovely space for a dance floor and socialising. When the weather permitted the gardens are wonderful place to catch up with family. Christina the events manager was incredibly helpful. She was flexible, knowledgeable about the venue and organised during the day. The venue is also really conveniently located next to transport so it was really easy for all our guest to attend. As well as being set amongst the picturesque lanes of Norwich. It was a huge plus that for weddings you have to book the venue for 3 days so the day before you set up and then there was no need to rush to tidy up the night of the wedding. Dragon hall provides a great package for weddings and was just an all-round stunning venue.

The organisation and support from Christina and the wider team not just on our wedding day, but in the lead-up to our wedding was first class and ultimately meant we were able to fully embrace and enjoy our wedding experience. Our perfect day!
We are so pleased we had our wedding at Dragon Hall! The venue was just perfect for us. Such a beautiful building, full of character and charm. A real hidden gem, it was a privilege to get married in such a historic building. The great hall provided a magical space for our ceremony and dinner. And downstairs worked perfectly for drinks and dancing the night away! The courtyard provided a nice outdoor area and the glass wall made it feel like one big space downstairs. All of the team at Dragon Hall were really helpful in the run up to the wedding and on in the day itself. They were excellent. We were given a range of different caterers to choose from - we ended up going with Gingerlily who were also excellent. Thank you to everyone at Dragon Hall, we had the best day!

Gorgeous venue for our special day
As much as the saying is very cheesy, our wedding day really was the best day of our lives. This was all possible thanks to the hard work of the NCW team in their beautiful, historic building. It's a real gem hidden in Norwich city and very accessible and easy to get to. The team were there to answer our endless list of questions, provided a brilliant list of recommended suppliers and had all our requests and decoration set up sorted for us. This meant we did not have to worry about anything else except our wonderful family and friends and be with them in the moment to celebrate our day! We were over the moon that we could have our day at such a wonderful venue and would not have had it any other way. We wish we could do it all over again!

Superb, friendly and approachable
We held our wedding breakfast and reception at Dragon Hall and had a phenomenal time! We booked the venue two years ago and felt fully supported the entire way through the process. Christina and Freya were superb, friendly and approachable, any questions you had they were happy to answer, you honestly couldn’t ask for a better group of people to help your big day go smoothly. The National Centre for Writing is based in the beautiful medieval Dragon Hall, a magnificent timbered trading hall and courtyard garden located in the heart of Norwich UNESCO City of Literature. It is easily accessible from the city centre and is a five-minute walk from the train station. Parking is available nearby on Rouen Road, NR1 1QU or Rose Lane, NR1 1PY. Describe the best wedding that happened at Dragon Hall?

We hosted a fantastic LARPer wedding, where all the guests dressed up in medieval garb. It was incredibly unique and perfectly suited to the character of our wonderful 15th Century building.

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

I recommend that the bride and groom separately make a list of priorities for their wedding, and then compare notes. That way you will know what aspects of the wedding are the most important to one another and you can focus on those when planning your special day.

What’s your favourite personal touch you’ve seen at a wedding?

As the National Centre for Writing by day, we love a book! One couple asked guests to bring a book to swap instead of a gift, which resulted in some lovely literary chats amongst guests. Another couple kindly chose a book for each guest as a wedding favour, accompanied by a personalised bookmark
