The hotel's main banqueting room - the Riversuite, can comfortably seat up to 150 guests for dining. With the Thames as its stunning panoramic backdrop we can offer nibbles or reception drinks on the Riversuite terrace during the warmer spring and summer months. Gorgeous wedding but hiccups along the way
First and foremost i would like to say Ana (wedding coordinator since June 2022) as our experiences at the hotel have been mixed, but she has done so much more for us in the last month than any of the previous wedding coordinators, and she is an asset to the team. Even though the wedding day was amazing and the little hiccups didnt ruin it for me, I do feel for that we were sold somthing that unfortunately wasnt 100% delivered. We went through numerous event planners, 6 names that I can think of off hand since we booked in 2019, and sadly, until we met Ana and Federica, I may aswell of not met the rest as they didnt hand on any information or planning, and we were offered things by one planner only for the next one to say somthing different. Including which room we would be having the ceremony in changing twice. Everytime I was sent an invoice one of our payments was missed off which was quickly resolved but did cause stress which was unnecessary. I had to prove a few times things had been promised or were in the contract, like that we had a room included, which is actually stated on the website, and told that the hotel would do the table numbers and name cards. All of this was resolved but just gave a feeling that things wernt organised well and gave me an extra job of finding our contract to prove somthing that should have already been known. I decided to get ready in the hotel the night before the wedding, but unfortunately they could not accommodate me in the same room 2 nights in a row. This ment that i was told by reception I'd need to leave the room by 11am, which I explained would not be possible considering my wedding was at 1pm. She agreed to let me keep the room until 1pm, but this ment in the morning of the wedding, after I was ready and bridesmaids etc were all dressed, that there was a mad panic of shoving stuff in bags to take to my car to bring back later, resulting in things getting lost and alot of stress. My hair stylest said in all the time she had worked weddings she had never seen someone have to vacate a room like that with no assistance from the hotel. We had to call down to reception to see if Ana was going to come up to the room to tell us the plan for the day and how things were going, to which we were actually told by the receptionist that she didnt know. Luckily Ana did come up and reassured me everything was going to plan and the rooms were looking lovely, and she talked us through how the day would work. The wedding was gorgeous, Ana escorted us to the ceremony room and it all ran perfectly without a hitch. I did however notice that the 2 cream rose trees that were in the contract that would be provided wernt actually there, which is a real shame as I had really liked them when we came to the wedding fair and was specifically told they would be there, aswell as actually being written in our signed contract with the hotel. So essentially, we were not provided what we paid for. All went well until we sat for the meal, which was very nice, but was not presented as we had been shown when we came in for the menu tasting. The wedding coordinator at the time said that she had taken photos of all of the dishes and they would look the same but they were not presented as nicely on the day sadly, which is a shame as the pictures they took of our meal were even used on social media! Also, the pudding was not served with the pistachio Ice cream that we picked off the menu and had really enjoyed. The meal was very tasty though and we did thoroughly enjoy the food. The waiters and servers were brilliant aswell and all did a wonderful job. The guys who worked in the room with us were both brilliant, really helpful and entering into the party atmosphere while remaining professional which is what I like! Overall, the day was amazing, i had the perfect wedding and the above things did not spoil our magical day, but I did want to draw to your attention our experience with the venue and on the day because actually, when you're paying a large amount of money, you do expect to get exactly what was offered (for example the cream Rose trees and the pistachio ice cream) as I feel we have actually paid now for a service we didnt fully receive from the crowne plaza. Despite some negative feedback however, I can see that the high turn over of staff and the fact they have not done there jobs properly and handed on information is not the fault of most the staff still working here. I'd recommend hiring your own DJ as you dont know who you will get when hiring from the hotel. We wernt impressed with ours sadly. The bedrooms were looking tired and worn out, and since I stayed in 2018, the standard has dramatically dropped. It is now more the standard budget hotel than the luxury hotel and wedding venue its marketed at. Breakfast is ok, but it's a buffet style and you cant have anything cooler fresh anymore like the eggs which was the case back in 2018. I have sent my feedback to the hotel and they have apologised and offered my husband and I a free bed and breakfast which is a nice gesture and I've left with the whole experience largely being a positive one, but it could have been alot better.
