Full Description
The Victorian mansion near Stirling, Perthshire was built in 1874 as a family residence and has since been operated as a hotel. There are records of Cromlix from the 1500s when the Bishop of Dunblane sold the lands of Cromlix to his brother, Robert Chisholm. The present house was built for Arthur Hay-Drummond, son of the Earl of Kinnoul. Edward VIII visited in 1903. The house remained a family home for the Hay-Drummonds until the death of Evelyn Hay-Drummond in 1971. Cromlix was converted in May 1981 from what was the Eden family home, and retained much of the original furniture designed for the house as well as the family portraits. It also contains Cromlix Chapel, a consecrated Episcopalian Church in the diocese of Dunblane dating from 1874. The house occupies approximately 34 acres of parkland with private loch. At Cromlix we offer two main hire options: Non-Exclusive hire of your chosen function room for ceremony and meal only, ideal for smaller, intimate weddings; or full Exclusive Hire of the hotel including 16 bedrooms and all public areas. Wedding parties over 50 guests and all weddings with evening entertainment are required to hire Cromlix on an exclusive use basis. A marriage ceremony at Cromlix is a very special experience. The historic Chapel building is consecrated by the Scottish Episcopal Church and can seat up to 36 guests. An organ is available for ceremony music and we have our own local minister to conduct your ceremony. Ceremonies can also be held in the Drawing Room of the hotel for up to 80 guests. The Chez Roux restaurant is based in a bright, open plan conservatory and can seat up to 80 guests on round tables. The space is also ideal for evening receptions for up to 120 guests. The front lawn at Cromlix can accommodate a marquee for up to 300 guests.

Describe the best wedding that happened at your venue?

We've had too many wonderful days to pick just one, but those that stand out are when couple's have taken the venue exclsuively for the whole weekend. The house atmosphere completely changes as it becomes a home for the weekend, with estate activities and Barbeque the night before for a casual 'rehearsal', an elegant wedding day, followed by a late, luxurious brunch on the Sunday.
