We can't wait to visit again and reminisce our day
After staying over at the Crab and Lobster for a special birthday, we both knew it was the place we wanted to tie the knot. We loved the feel for the place, really quirky, laid back but luxurious too. We also didn't want anything too formal. We met with John on various occasions before the big day, i had a million and one questions which he happily answered and set our minds at rest. We had 40 guests during the day and 120 on the night. The room where we said the 'i do's' was lovely, really bright and very intimate. The grounds are fabulous, lots of really good photo opportunities. I was a little worried at how the evening party would flow with it being across two separate rooms due to having 120 guests, however, it was perfect. We had a photo booth/sweet shop etc set up in the back room and people could sit and chat but still here the music and entertainment from the dance floor. Another big fear was the good old British weather, i thought rain would completely ruin the day! It stayed dry during the ceremony and photos and then rained on and off for most of the night. This didn't have any impact on the day and our guests still made use of the outside area. The food was gorgeous with lots of compliments from our guests. We had a BBQ for the evening which went down very well, some guests even commented 'the best BBQ ever!!' John and the team organised the day to flow so perfectly for us and went over and above our expectations in looking after my disabled grandparents, even arranging transport to get between the main building and the Crab Manor. Nothing was too much trouble and everything was amazing. We can't wait to visit again and reminisce our day!

We knew immediately it was 'the one'
We have always had fond memories of North Yorkshire- making our first home together in the nearby village of Thirsk. It therefore seemed right to return to the area and celebrate our day with our family and friends. Crab Manor was the one and only place that we visited when looking for a wedding venue and we knew immediately it was 'the one'. With lots of small intimate spaces, quirky decor and beautiful grounds we fell in love with it. We chose Good Friday on the Easter bank holiday which was great because the majority of our guests had the time off work and it provided us with an Easter theme for the table decorations. In the build up to our wedding, we stayed in Bora Bora to celebrate Christmas Day - three months to the day that we would be back there to tie the knot. We are so pleased that there are many more rooms to for us to return to and explore and reflect upon our happy day. From start to finish, the staff really couldn't have been more helpful- everyone was supremely organised and everything went so smoothly. John was fantastic and was always on hand to answer any questions or provide reassurance. Aside from the beautiful facilities, the staff at Crab Manor are really the greatest asset. We chose a perfect, sunny Spring day and we couldn't believe how lucky we were. My favourite part of the day was walking into the beautiful ceremony room surrounded by blue sky, sunshine and golden daffodils in the gardens. After champagne and canapés we went down to the pavilion with our guests for the wedding breakfast. Every course was beautifully presented and tasted even better. So many of our guests commented that, in particular, the sticky toffee pudding was the best they had ever had! I personally enjoyed the famous Crab and Lobster chocolate truffles! There was plenty of room for our additional evening guests and we were all spoiled again with a wonderful spread of curry and chilli con-carne. The jukebox provided plenty of entertainment into the evening and the pavilion and restaurant rooms were the perfect space for people to either have a chat or party on the dance floor! We booked out all the hotel rooms for our guests and we would highly recommend this. People were much more relaxed in the evening knowing that their luxury rooms were only a stone's throw away and equally we enjoyed breakfast together the next day which was the perfect way to say goodbye.

FAQs
Find out a bit more from our FAQs

Describe the best wedding that happened at Crab Manor Hotel?

I think all our weddings are wonderful, however when a colleague chooses to have their wedding day here, it is so special to us as a team. We are all involved in the day, and there is the added sentiment of knowing them personally, which truly makes it a day to remember for us all. It is amazing the ideas that some of our couples have for the day, and most importantly, it makes them happy.

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Organisation is key, and I think the more organised you are the easier it will become. I will say that on that day, it is so important to enjoy it and allow it to happen. We are honoured to look after our guests, and will ensure the day is what you hoped for. You must take it all in, and have fun.

What’s your favourite personal touch you’ve seen at a wedding?

I think all weddings have their own personal touch which is right for them, and that is what it is all about. It could be table names that mean something to you, a personalised table plan with special photographs, or a family member showing a talent - for me, my favourite personal touch is seeing what is special to those people and how it is incorporated into their day, big or small.

Describe Crab Manor Hotel in 5 adjectives

Quirky, Whimsical, Attentive, Unique and Plentiful

Where’s the best photo spot at Crab Manor Hotel?

There are so many, but I would have to say the Ivory arch and water fountain in our stunning gardens. The photos I have seen of our happy couples here are just so elegant, and timeless.

Have you had any celebrity guest or wedding at Crab Manor Hotel?

We have had several celebrities stay with us here at the Crab and Lobster, and it is so exciting for the team (and guests) to see a 'familiar face'. Due to where we are located we have a number of TV actors live relatively close by, and who often pop in for something to eat in our beautiful restaurant or treat themselves to a night away.

What’s your favourite canapé?

This is a tough one! If I had to choose it would either be the Shepherds Pie (they look fab, and very cute) or the Salmon Mousse.

What’s your favourite midnight treat?

A Baileys Hot Chocolate, sat in our cosy lounge in the Manor House. Sit back, and reflect on your day.

What is Crab Manor Hotel most unique feature?

I would have to say the Pavillion restaurant where we serve our Wedding Breakfast. The room is like Aladdin's cave of wonders and is filled with many weird and wonderful things. Make sure you look up when you visit!

What part of your business are you most proud of?

The hard-working, and dedicated staff we have here. We all have the same goal, and that is for all our guests to come here and have an enjoyable time whether that be at a wedding, a meal in our restaurant, or an overnight stay - we want our guests to leave with lovely memories and a plan to visit us again.
