Cantley House Hotel and barn, set within 50 acres of stunning countryside, is a warm and welcoming Berkshire wedding venue located on the outskirts of Wokingham and just a short distance away from Reading, Windsor, Ascot and Maidenhead. Cantley House Hotel is a privately owned, 38 bedroom boutique hotel that offers everything you could need for your special day.
As the former home of the Marquis of Ormonde, the property has a grand yet homely feel with quirky and eccentric surprises at every turn. Whether you are looking for a venue for a small and intimate wedding reception or a larger more elaborate event our unique and enchanting property has an array of function facilities to suit every taste and budget; from the original suites of our classic Victorian manor house to our distinctive 17th century barn, we even have the capacity to house a marquee on our impressive lawns - perfect for those weddings where a larger capacity is required.

She was absolutely amazing throughout the whole process, always taking the time to answer all of our questions, reassure us whenever we needed it, and make sure we felt supported every step of the way. Lara, the sales and events manager, guided us through every step of the process and really helped us feel like everything was in hand in advance of the wedding. Getting married outside on the lawn was incredible and everything was beautifully setup without us having to worry about a thing. We had a guitarist play (Mark Rose from Encore Musicians) during the ceremony and drinks reception and it really added to the atmosphere of the day! The food was outstanding, whether it was the canapés, the wedding breakfast, or the pizza from the pizza oven in the evening, we couldn't fault any of it and our guests thoroughly agreed. The barn was beautiful and the perfect location to host not only our meal but the Ceilidh (by Ceilidh Tree) afterwards. We had additional lighting from 'Not Just DJs' and flowers from 'Blooming Fabulous Flowers'. Our only comment would be that it can get very hot in there. But as it was 32 degrees celsius outside on our wedding day we can't imagine that's always an issue! Having the beautiful grounds of Cantley Park surrounding the hotel was fantastic for our evening couple photos at golden hour. This was a lovely chance to slip away as bride and groom, knowing our guests were happily looked after at the hotel. Something that can't be highlighted enough is the benefit of having a venue that has rooms on site. Having your closest friends and family stay to the end knowing they can just walk a few steps to bed is perfect and meant that everyone who wanted to could enjoy the day from start to finish. We had 20 rooms reserved for our wedding guests from the moment we booked and our guests were able to book these at a discount. Our suite for the wedding night was stunning. Overall we would highly recommend Cantley House Hotel and Barn to anyone. If you happen to look at it on a map, don't let the location fool you. It's tucked away from any residential house and you would think you're in the middle of the countryside when you're actually at the venue. It's absolutely perfect. We have had a variety of weddings here, from small intimate weddings of only 4 people to very large weddings over 120 people. I don't have a favourite as each one is so different and unique in their own special way.
What is your No.1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Try not to stress over the small things. It is the people around you that make the day special.
What’s your favourite personal touch you’ve seen at a wedding?
I love home made decorations that bring out the couples personalities, it makes a wedding unique an memorable.

Where’s the best photo spot at your venue?
The lawns, the fountain, the pond, the courtyard with festoon lighting or the surrounding Cantley Park fields that are the perfect spot for artistic photos.

What’s your favourite canapé?
We have a variety of sweet and savory canapes. I personally love the Angus beef sliders and the Chargrilled Halloumi, and to finish it off I love a strawberry cheesecake pot!
What is your venue's most unique feature?
We are a barn and a hotel, which means we have the luxury of accommodation and a beautiful converted barn.
