Canalhouse

We booked the Canalhouse for our wedding reception and found it to be the perfect budget-friendly option. We had a lot of setbacks with our wedding as lockdown hit just as we were supposed to get married, so we didn't want to spend lots on our reception since we'd already had the actual ceremony 4 years earlier! The venue is so pretty without any decorations anyway, but Amy kindly put out some decorations for free for us on the night. We also saved money on a DJ by plugging our laptop into their sound system and it worked brilliantly, even better than a DJ as it meant we had a personalised playlist! Food went down really well with our guests and at the end of the night, my dad had a medical emergency and Andrew drove us to the hospital, he was amazing and looked after us when we got to A&E as well. I only found out later that the staff kept the bar open a little longer for those of my friends and family who missed last orders due to the emergency, so thank you so much everyone for that as well!

Oh my goodness - where do I start. A huge thank you to Amy and the team for making our evening so special. It was an emotional event for us and our family and friends and we were so well looked after. The food (I'm told by our gannet friends) was amazing and the bar was very well stocked with fabulous friendly service. We LOVE our German beers and the night before we noticed some Oktoberfest beers - we requested a few for the bar the next night which was happily accommodated. Quite simply - thank you for everything :-)

As we couldn't invite all our friends to our registry day, we decided to have a celebration at the Canalhouse on our first anniversary. The events manager Amy was a delight to work with, she helped with every aspect of the planning and kept everything rolling during the event itself. The function room was an ideal size and laid out/decorated exactly as per our request. The venue is easy for guests to get to, with train station, bus station, and multiple large car parks nearby (you can't park at the venue itself without a permit). We had a private bar, with lovely bar staff, private toilets (always helpful!) and an exceptional buffet - the guests all commented how great the food was and Amy made sure to cater for some (very) specific dietary reqs! A bouncer was on the door to make sure only guests were allowed into the function room. We hooked up our own laptops to the entertainment system, which was easy to use and meant we could have a curated music playlist. The next time we have any event, wedding related or not, the Canalhouse will be at the top of our list! A huge thanks to Amy and the staff for giving us a perfect night!

Amy and her team were amazing, nothing is too much trouble for Amy, do supportive and a beautiful person, we had the best day ever, we had a soley vegan reception, the food was outstanding, everyone enjoyed it

We provided our DJ, Sax & Bongo package for a wedding at the venue on Saturday the 13th of July 2024. The artists who performed at the venue were made to feel very welcome and the staff were extremely friendly, thank you so much for taking care of them and we look forward to working at the venue again soon.

OMG what a night, had an absolute blast! The room, music, and food perfect! Everyone who attended had a great time, and without exception commented on what a fantastic host Amy was. We can’t thank you enough Amy, right from the start you took all the worry out of our “big day” celebrations. Nothing was too much trouble, and on the day it was beyond my expectations and totally beautiful. Thanks again for the dj recommendation, great set and a new friend! I know that a lot of the guests are already planning to book their next event here, it was so good. Thanks to all the team, you absolutely made our day really special 😘

The weather stayed dry and we were able to have the day that had been planned out to my new wife’s meticulous plans. The ceremony was over in a flash and before we knew we were hitched and ready to party. Getting married at the council house meant we were central to everywhere and had an abundance of venues to chose from for the wedding reception and after visiting a few which left us both a little underwhelmed, we stumbled upon the canal house. Amy, the hostess with every possible option and combination you could ever need, was brilliant, and made organising the day so simple. And those plans came together perfectly. The venue proved perfect for pre party photos and there was even space for our ice cream van which we’d hired to be able to give our guests something to cool down before hitting the bar. Once the photos were complete we were welcomed by the staff into OUR room. It was exactly as we’d imagined it and Amy had made it a reality. It was stunning. The drinks and food were perfect and all guests were very impressed with how good the food was (and we had some really awkward guests so it must have been good) Once the food was eaten and the drinks were flowing it was time to dance. And boy did we do that. And the Canal house staff made sure that we didn’t want for anything and kept the drinks flowing. Safe to say we all had a brilliant time. If you don’t have a venue already I would definitely encourage you to speak to Amy and get yourself booked into the Canal house now

Heather and Jack chose The Canalhouse as their wedding venue and it suited their vibe perfectly. The buffet dinner, Ceilidh band and DIY elements of the day were fab. I enjoyed photographing them and everyone had a great time. Would love to go back to photograph more fun weddings at the Canalhouse. Kathryn Edwards Photography x

We want to say a HUGE THANK YOU the incredible team at The Canal House. Everyone was sooooo kind & friendly throughout the whole wedding planning and prep experience which has made it feel easy and fun. Amy - your excellent & professional event management skills really shine through. We have both been blown away by how helpful and knowledgeable you are and you've replied to our every question (there's been quite a few haha!) So thank you so much for all your hard work, you really have gone above and beyond! All our guests were raving about the Mexican Buffet and food - so big compliments to the talented chef and the rest of the kitchen team. We'll certainly be back soon to eat some yummy pub grub again soon.
