Full Description
The Assembly Rooms is a stunning National Trust building in a leafy area of Bath. Not only is it an elegant wedding venue, it is also a Bridgerton filming location, the setting for one of the opulent ball scenes. The building has appeared in several period dramas and has direct links to Jane Austen - she was a frequent visitor and the venue appears in some of her novels. The Assembly Rooms was purpose built in 1771 for social gatherings and can still be used for this original purpose, which our wedding couples love! It is a stunning location for a wedding and couples can have the most beautiful photographs, whatever the weather. The large rooms allow for whole wedding party photographs and the beautiful architecture and interior makes a fantastic backdrop. The crystal chandeliers are the finest set of 18th century chandeliers in the world. The building is set in a leafy part of central Bath and only a short stroll to the iconic Royal Crescent, which is a popular spot for outdoor wedding photography. The venue has four inter-connecting rooms of varying sizes and a small garden, providing versatile space for intimate weddings or larger celebrations with up to 500 guests, and outdoor space for summer drinks. Couples can choose to have a ceremony only, reception only or both together. Contracted caterer Searcys provide delicious food and drink for receptions, whether a three-course seated dinner or something a little less formal. All four rooms are on the ground floor and are fully accessible to wheelchair users. We are committed to sustainable, ethical, and environmentally friendly business practices - for more information please visit our website.

It was all in a word, perfect!
We feel lucky that venues like the Bath Assembly Rooms and the Roman Baths are available to hire for events like this, as did our guests. In fact, we’ve lost count of the number of guests who told us how much they loved the venues, how great is was to use the Bath Assembly Rooms to “assemble” as they were originally designed for...It was all, in a word, perfect!

FAQ

Describe the best wedding that happened at your venue?

We have hosted many beautiful weddings, but one of the most memorable was a 17 hour affair! It included a Sikh religious ceremony, a civil ceremony, a British modern wedding breakfast, and finally a curry buffet and bhangra disco. The colours, sounds and tastes were all amazing, and we were all pleasantly exhausted by the end of the day!

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

It is really important to have a showround with the team before making your booking, whether virtual or face to face, and to ask as many questions as possible. Let the team know if there is something that you have always dreamed of, so we can make it a reality!

What’s your favourite personal touch you’ve seen at a wedding?

One couple hand made models of scenes from popular movies, which they used as their table decorations, from Star Wars to My Neighbour Totoro. They were amazing and so creative.

Describe your venue in 5 adjectives.

Elegant, historic, romantic, beautiful, stunning

Where’s the best photo spot at your venue?

Under one of our priceless chandeliers

Have you had any celebrity guest or wedding at your venue?

No celebrity weddings, but we have hosted lots of filming. The venue was a key location in Bridgerton and Ralph Fiennes and Keira Knightley starred in The Duchess, with some of the filming taking place in the Tea Room.

What is your venue's most unique feature?

The nine Whitefriars crystal chandeliers, original to the building, and reputed to be the finest in Europe.

What part of your business are you most proud of?

We are proud that the Assembly Rooms are still used for their original purpose, hospitality and entertainment.
