What is your most memorable wedding?
So many - but the weddings where we are immersed in nature, on the beach, clifftops or in a woodland glade are especial favourites. We love including family (and pets) to join in, one of the most memorable was when a great granddad of the bride did a mini speech just before their vows - not a dry eye left amongst the guests.
Describe your style in 5 adjectives.
Engaging, friendly, professional, fun, and a truly safe pair of hands!
What about your business are you most proud of?
Building it up from nothing and seeing it grow, and all the wonderful reviews from our couples and families.
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Stay true to yourselves, everything about the day should speak to your hearts.
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
Apart from the inclusion of personal heartfelt vows, it has to be the inclusion of family and friends (and pets!) in the ceremony.
Describe your typical process with a couple.
Initial contact by phone or email, then further consultation by personal meeting or Skype/FaceTime meeting. Once the deposit is paid we send some ceremony suggestions, outline of rituals, a fact finding questionnaire, our T&C's and booking forms. Communication is key and we are happy to meet up, or phone/Skype throughout the process. We start the writing process about 6 weeks before the date of the ceremony to ensure that the content remains fresh and relevant. We always arrive at the venue at least an hour before the time the ceremony is due to start and leave when our part has been played.
What is the most unusual thing you’ve been asked to plan?
Location finding for couples from abroad, often they want a typically Cornish view - sea, cliffs, ruined tin mines, and sometimes ask if we can find out where they are filming Poldark so they can have pictures with the cast!
How do you ensure a stress-free wedding?
It is a stressful time, brides and grooms want a perfect day. We are prepared - we have copies of all readings/poems/song lyrics/vows. We have an emergency kit of safety pins, string, plasters, ribbons, tissues, (lots of tissues), pens, plastic bags and lots else besides - the kit grows every year! With our experience of dealing with people at key life events we are adept at reading situations and defusing potential problems.
What do you love most about your job?
Don't panic! Keep everything in perspective. Everyone will remember the look on faces when you say your vows to each other - they will not remember that the ribbons on the table weren't the exact shade of your flowers.
What is your favourite moment at a wedding?
There are two - when the couple first see each other as they enter the ceremony - and as they look into each others eyes as they say their vows!
