I work from scratch on every script to ensure your wedding ceremony is as unique and specifically wonderful/crackers/romantic/lyrical as you.
There are no hard and fast set formats, but I can guide you through the elements that will help us share your love story in a way that feels completely you. We can keep it simple, or we can incorporate things such as handfasting, ring warming (not as rude as it sounds!), sing-songs, readings, quizzes, tree planting, shot-downing, whatever you can think of…

If you’re looking for a tick-the-boxes-and-just-get-on-with-it ceremony, click away now.
BUT, if you’re looking for a ceremony that is completely personalised to you and your unique relationship, a ceremony that gets into the nitty gritty of what makes you click, a ceremony that makes you laugh and cry, you might want to carry on reading.
While civil and church ceremonies have restrictions on their wordings, readings, music, time of day and where you can hold your wedding ceremony, humanist celebrant-led ceremonies can be held pretty much however, whenever and wherever you like!
We can build a ceremony that completely reflects who you are as people, and as a couple and will be filled with joy, laughter and emotion.

Is this a legal ceremony?
Frustratingly, no. At least not YET. The government is in the process of conducting a (long-overdue!) consultation about allowing non-belief organisations such as Humanists UK to have the same power to legally marry as churches and registrars. So hopefully I will soon be giving a different answer!
For the time being, you will need to complete the legal formalities separately and then have your big ‘do’ later on. Hey, if it’s good enough for Dua Lipa!
Your legal ceremony can be as straightforward and no-frills or boujee and fabulous as you would like. You could opt to rock up with just 2 witnesses for a basic ceremony in the register office (prices from £72 (including certificate) in West Sussex at time of writing), or take the opportunity to make it into another miniature celebration.
Another option is to have the registrar along to your wedding day and conduct a short service with them first. There are lots of options and I can chat you through them when we meet.
Do we have to be Humanists to have a humanist ceremony?
No you don’t! If you’re into the idea of celebrating love in a meaningful and heartfelt way without religion, these are the ceremonies for you!
While ceremonies in Register Offices are rather strict about mentioning the G word in any way, I’m all about creating a ceremony that is meaningful for your family. So while I wouldn’t feel comfortable reading out a prayer myself or leading any sort of act of worship, we can definitely discuss ways in which we can sensitively weave in cultural or faith references that honour your family’s beliefs while staying true to the values that made you book a humanist ceremony in the first place.
How are you qualified?
I trained through and am accredited by Humanists UK, generally regarded as the ‘gold standard’ as far as celebrant training and delivery goes. I chose this training as I wanted to be as well prepared as possible for my couples and I also identify with the values of humanism - respect and kindness to people and the world, not because a higher power tells us to, but because it's right.
I need to undertake ongoing CPD and training to maintain my accredited status, so you can rest safe in the knowledge I know what I’m doing!
The other great thing about this is that I’m part of the Humanists UK network. So I’m fully insured and should something befall me last minute, there will be someone on call to step in and fill my shoes.
It's worth bearing in mind that not all celebrants are trained or accredited, so always best to check.
