What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Don't Jump in. Make sure your suppliers are perfect for you before you secure a booking. Choosing the perfect celebrant is one time when you should use your heart more than your head. Meet with them in person, look at their reviews and socials, ask if you can speak to a previous client. Its a big day and a lot of expense so make sure you get the perfect person to help you create your perfect day. Your wedding day memories should last a lifetime....
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
Lighting a candle to represent the presence of those who can not be present.....so sentimental and touches the heart...
Describe your typical process with a couple.
When we receive the initial enquiry we arrange a NO OBLIGATION meeting over a coffee - usually cake is involved too - and we chat about the couples plans, hopes and dreams. We show some of our past ceremonies and talk through all the special things we can do to enhance their day. We then send them away to have a think, but send them an email summarising our discussions.
If they then choose to secure the date we ask for a non-refundable £100 booking fee to secure the date and the final balance 1 month prior to the big day.
We provide advice and information about completing the simple Legal requirements at the local Register Office by way of giving Notice of Intention to Marry and a short Statutory Legal Ceremony to complete the legalities and ensure they are LEGALLY married on paper - that's the 'marriage' part, but the wedding is on the Big Day.
A few months prior to the wedding we ask our couples to complete a questionnaire about how they met, the twists and turns along the way, and where their journey has taken them along the way. We ask what they love about each other, and funny little things that make all the difference. We keep in contact throughout the creative process and allow our couples to review the drafts - obviously keeping some detail back to ensure that they have some surprises on the day. Once it is factually correct we help them write vows and promises, find the perfect readings and poems, and overall make sure the ceremony is perfect.
We then attend in good time on the day, settle everybody down, take the stress out of any worries or concerns, from popped buttons to ensuring the seating is in place to accommodate the often complicated family dynamics! We then present the ceremony and you know the rest.... it ends with, "Husband and Wife, Wife and Wife or Husband and Husband".
We only do 1 wedding a day so if there is a disaster, such as the groomsmen forgetting their shoes, trousers too big, makeup and hair dramas, or meltdowns and nerves it is not a problem - we simply wait, and we are ready, when you are ready.
On conclusion of the ceremony we simply leave you to continue as we started - in Celebration of two wonderful people and the joining of friends and families.
What is the most unusual thing you’ve been asked to plan?
We love a doggy ring bearer - we once had one couples fur baby come down the aisle in a remote controlled Mercedes. We have had flash mobs, singing soloists, we do work with animals and children! Each to their own though -if its appropriate, we will accommodate.
How do you ensure a stress-free wedding?
We plan well ahead, set off in good time, give good advice and are fleet of foot in times of uncertainty.
The one piece of advice we give is plan Stag and Hen do's well in advance - gives time for eyebrows to grow back!! Don't drink too much on the morning of the ceremony - and keep hydrated with water based drinks! Go for a walk - but don't be gone so long that we have to send out a search party! Break your shoes in!! And its not a performance or a competition - relax, it will be amazing if you just allow yourself to go with the flow and enjoy the day.
What do you love most about your job?
We love EVERYTHING about our job!! The creative writing that makes moments magical and memorable, the chance to go to weddings every week, witnessing such a joyful occasion and being part of the happiness, meeting wonderful people and realising their dreams of a perfect wedding, the romance, the laughter, the smiles, the tears!!! What’s not to love 💕
What is your favourite moment at a wedding?
When the couple see each other for the 1st time - and when a Father see's his daughter for the 1st time on the day.
