Paul Everitt - Celebrant Full Description

Hello, I’m Paul — a Brighton & Sussex based celebrant creating thoughtful, personal wedding ceremonies.

I believe your ceremony should feel like you. Not something taken from a script, but something shaped around your story, your relationship and the moments that matter most.

My role is to get to know you properly — how you met, what makes you laugh, what you value — and turn that into a ceremony that feels relaxed, meaningful and genuine. Whether you’re planning something intimate and simple or full of energy and celebration, we’ll find the right tone together.

Couples often tell me they feel at ease quickly, and that’s important to me. I’ll guide you through the process with calm support, helping with vows, structure and ideas, so everything feels clear and enjoyable rather than overwhelming.

On the day, I’ll be there as a steady, reassuring presence, holding the space so you can relax into the moment and enjoy it.

If you’re looking for a ceremony that feels natural, inclusive and truly personal, I’d love to hear about your plans.

FAQs
Find out a bit more from our FAQs

What is a celebrant wedding ceremony?

A celebrant wedding ceremony is completely personal and written just for you. It’s not a set script — it’s shaped around your story, your relationship and what matters most to you. It gives you the freedom to include personal vows, readings, music or symbolic moments, or to keep things simple and relaxed.

How does the process work?

We begin with a relaxed conversation so I can get a feel for what you’re planning. If you decide to go ahead, we’ll have a longer meeting where I get to know your story properly. I’ll then write your ceremony and share a draft with you so we can shape it together. My role throughout is to guide you gently so everything feels clear and enjoyable.

Can we include our own vows and readings?

Absolutely. Many couples choose to include personal vows, readings or music, but it’s entirely up to you. I’ll guide you if you’d like help with wording or ideas, or you can keep things simple — whatever feels right for you.

Will you help us if we don’t know where to start?

Yes — and that’s a big part of my role. Most couples don’t know exactly what they want at the beginning, and that’s completely normal. I’ll guide you through each step, offering ideas and reassurance so the whole process feels relaxed rather than overwhelming.

Do you travel?

I’m based in Sussex and regularly lead ceremonies across Brighton, Hove and the surrounding areas. Travel within Sussex is included, and I’m happy to travel further if needed — just get in touch and we can talk it through.

What makes your ceremonies different?

Every ceremony I create is written from scratch and shaped around you. I take the time to really listen and understand your story, so what we create feels natural, meaningful and true to you — not something taken from a template.

Do we need a legal ceremony as well?

Yes — celebrant-led ceremonies aren’t legally binding in England, so you would also complete the legal part separately at a register office. Many couples choose to do this on a different day, keeping it simple, and then have their celebrant ceremony as the main event where you can fully personalise everything.

Can we have our ceremony anywhere?

Yes, and that’s one of the lovely things about a celebrant-led ceremony. You’re not restricted to licensed venues, so you can choose a place that feels meaningful to you — whether that’s a garden, a beach, a woodland setting or a venue you love.

What happens if you’re unwell on the day?

In the unlikely event that I’m unable to attend, I have connections with other trusted celebrants who I can call on to step in. I would ensure they are fully briefed so your ceremony still feels personal and well cared for.

How far in advance should we book?

It’s always best to get in touch as soon as you have a date in mind, especially for peak wedding season. That said, I’m always happy to help at shorter notice if I’m available — so it’s worth reaching out whenever you’re ready.
