Making Memories by Gerri Full Description
Each ceremony is tailored made. I get to know and understand a couple in order to build trust and a good rapport to ensure the ceremony is right. All ceremonies should be fun and joyful with no stress. Including a Unity Ceremony makes a ceremony so special such as Handfasting. This is where tying the knot comes in. The couple's hands are fastened together with ribbons or cords. The wrapping of the cords forms an infinity symbol. Other Unity ceremonies can be included such as Unity Candle or Unity Sand. These ceremonies can be performed by the couple alone or with family, friends and children. Children especially like the Sand Ceremony. The day is yours and only yours. In the words of Roy T. Bennett "Follow your heart - listen to your inner voice, stop caring about what other people think"

Special day
After ten years of marriage me and my wife decided to celebrate by renewing our wedding vowels. From the moment we met up with Gerri we felt at ease. We didn't really know what to expect from a renewal but Gerri was brilliant and came up with some amazing ideas to put into the ceremony. We wanted a relaxed and fun ceremony and Gerri delivered the perfect combination of emotion and laughter. The details and personal touches that she added made the day that little bit more special. Gerri really was a special part of our day and we can't thank her enough.

Frequently Asked Questions
(9)

What is your most memorable wedding?

My own. We got married on Lizard Island, Australia. There were only two of us but the Celebrant made it such fun. It was so easy and comfortable. She gave us a love locket as our unity symbol. My husband locked the locket and then she told him to throw it into the sand. Trouble was she didn't say how far. We wouldn't have found it even if we wanted to. This is what a wedding ceremony should be about - fun and relaxing.

Describe your style in 5 adjectives.

Relaxed, easy to deal with, thoughtful, creative, innovative

What about your business are you most proud of?

I started my business in March 2020, probably one of the most difficult times to get a business going. I also created my own website from scratch. A steep learning curve.

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Take your time in choosing a Celebrant. You must feel at ease with them and able to build a rapport. They need to be able to listen to what you would like. Only offering suggestions when needed.

What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?

Handfasting - a truly symbolic ceremony.

Describe your typical process with a couple.

Get to know them, face to face if possible. Otherwise by Facetime/Skype. Listen to their thoughts and ideas. Getting to know their background, families and personalities. How they met, how long before they got engaged. What was the proposal, where and when. What would they most like from the wedding ceremony.

How do you ensure a stress-free wedding?

By having a check list and double checking it. Ensuring if anyone has a reading or poem to do they know when they say it. Have they learnt it or do they wish me to hand a copy of the reading/poem to them.

What do you love most about your job?

It will all fall into place - don't worry. Just go slowly and tick things off as you go. There is nearly always a solution.

What is your favourite moment at a wedding?

When the couple exchange their vows which are so personal and mean a great deal.
