Full Description
I am proud to be accredited by Humanist UK to create and conduct bespoke, meaningful, non-religious ceremonies. I love what I do... I think that all Celebrants would say the same. We feel extremely privileged to be part of the celebrations of life's special moments. I live in Liverpool and I am most often asked to conduct ceremonies in the North-West of England and North Wales, but I am more than happy to travel anywhere, within the U.K. or overseas. I have been conducting weddings for over 17 years. That doesn't mean I think that I've seen and heard it all - far from it! - but it does mean that I know, and care about, what I'm doing, have bulit a solid reputation, and you can rely on me. I am as 'hands on' or 'hands off', as you prefer, with advice and suggestions. If you have no idea where to start, that is fine! I will help and support you, and together we will design a personal and memorable ceremony. If you know exactly what you want, of course, that is also absolutely fine. Together, we will make your 'dream ceremony' a reality. I pride myself on my attention to detail and being fully prepared but I am flexible, resourceful and more than capable of thinking on my feet - all with a calm demeanour and a good sense of humour (this feels a bit like an online dating profile!) I love animals, especially dogs. Our Sprollie (Springer Spaniel/Border Collie), Pip, came to our wedding and there aren't many things that make me smile more than a ceremony with a dog (except maybe a ceremony with two dogs?) But don't worry, while your canine friends will be made to feel very welcome - they aren't compulsory! Dog-free weddings are also wonderful. Please get in touch to check my availability or for more information. I would love to hear about your plans. PS: I will always reply promptly to your enquiry; if there is nothing in your inbox within 24 hours please check your Spam/Junk as sometimes my emails end up in there...

Best day, best ceremony, best celebrant ever!!
If you are looking for a warm, sincere, funny, organised, experienced, professional celebrant who can write and deliver a heartfelt and personalised ceremony, then look no further. Lorraine is truly exceptional at what she does. At our wedding (civil partnership conversion to marriage) recently, she created the most perfect and memorable ceremony. So many guests commented how she made it so special, so about us and so emotional. It was filled with family, tears, love and laughter. Exactly what we asked for. We simply cannot thank her enough for creating such wonderful memories (and in such a short timescale too!). Thanks Lorraine xxxx

So glad we picked you.
Thank you so much for making our day what it was. So glad we picked you. You made us feel relaxed and you were able to put a great ceremony together despite us only getting together a few days before the wedding. We appreciate the fact that you were able to do this in the little time you had after we first met so thank you for that. It was great to meet you and thanks for everything.

We had everyone involved on our special day...
Gordon and I cannot thank Lorraine enough for helping us making our special day even more special. We had discussed what we wanted and nothing was too much trouble. Lorraine took everything in that we asked for and everything fell in place perfectly. We had everyone involved on our special day... Candles were lit for our passed loved ones, mum's gift of a rose, Ted (our dog) carrying the rings to be blessed by our guests. We had laughs, we had happy tears, we had speeches and made memories. The sun shone and everyone had a fabulous magical day and evening. It was perfect and finished with our guest of honour to get everyone laughing, dancing and singing at our beautiful garden wedding, x

Lorraine was the first and last celebrant we spoke to because we knew instantly that she was the person we wanted to marry us.
Lorraine was the first and last celebrant we spoke to because we knew instantly that she was the person we wanted to marry us. She was so warm and seemed to just get ‘us’ and what we wanted the ceremony to be like straight away. We booked Lorraine about 2 years before the wedding and she kept in regular contact throughout. We planned the ceremony via email and then in person nearer the time which was really helpful. We were both pretty clueless about how to structure the service and what we wanted to say but Lorraine made the process so much easier by providing lots of materials to chose from. Lorraine remembered everything we told her and really listened to what we wanted. She took everything we said and incorporated it into the ceremony to make it super personal and relaxed. We couldn’t have hoped for a better ceremony- there was so much laughter and some happy tears. On the day itself Lorraine was such a calming presence and we both felt instantly relaxed with her there. If you want a personal ceremony then we would not hesitate in recommending Lorraine.

What is your most memorable wedding?

That's a sneaky question! I couldn’t possibly single one out - they have all been special and memorable for one reason or another...

Describe your style in 5 adjectives.

Friendly, professional, organised, resourceful, reliable

What about your business are you most proud of?

That I get to give people the wedding ceremony that they want, dream of and deserve. I love that I help to create happy memories for a couple and their guests to treasure...

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Keep to your budget but choose your suppliers based on more than price. Do some research: check out their reviews and social media; ask for recommendations from friends or online support groups. Choose the people that you connect with and who you feel can make your big day even better...

What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?

Again, it would be difficult to choose one - because every personal touch, at a wedding, is perfect for that couple. I do love it when grandparents are acknowledged or involved in the ceremony - maybe that’s because I don’t have any memories of my own grandparents?

Describe your typical process with a couple.

I respond to enquiries as soon as possible - definitely within 24 hours. I will answer any questions that you raise and encourage you to ask as many others as you need to. Once I know where and when your wedding is taking place I will be able to check my availability and let you know my fee. I will give you details of the fee and what is included - once you have booked this will not increase for any reason. To help you decide, if I am the right Celebrant for you, I offer to provisionally hold a date for two weeks, without any charge or obligation. During that period, I will always do my best to meet, or at least speak, with you prior to you confirming the booking with a deposit. Once you have booked, I will keep in touch with you and support and guide you as much (or as little) as you wish. On the day itself, I arrive fully prpepared and in good time. I liaise with your venue and other suppliers to ensure that everything goes smoothly and I beam with joy throughout your ceremony, as much as any of your other guests...

What is the most unusual thing you’ve been asked to plan?

Hmmm? There have been quite a few. I suppose a naming ceremony for a cocktail would be up there. Mixing a unity cocktail was part of the wedding ceremony. The different elements symbolised the characteristics of each partner and how well they worked together (and separately). The name was kept a surprise from everyone (including me) - the couple had pre-mixed a batch for the first drinks (I tried it and it was very very nice!)

How do you ensure a stress-free wedding?

By being friendly, reliable, well organised, calm and resourceful. I will keep in touch, respond to any queries that you have and go above and beyond to ensure that you have the perfect (stress-free) wedding ceremony.

What do you love most about your job?

I LOVE just about everything about my job! One of the best parts is getting to know about, building a connection with, and caring for, my couples. By the time a couple's big day comes around it's a really big day for me too! So much so that it often feels as though I am at the wedding of my friends. All of the planning has culminated in their wedding day and, without exception, I can't wait to see the couple's reactions during their ceremony and I love being there to share in their happiness. It is a massive privilege to be a Celebrant; it brings me so much joy helping people to have the wedding of their dreams - it certainly never just feels like 'a job'...

What is your favourite moment at a wedding?

I love the expressions on each partner's face when they are saying/hearing the vows - it is as if they are in a love bubble and for those few moments are able to shut everything else out. It's magical and gives me goose pimples just thinking about it...
