I'm Jane, a celebrant working across Essex, Hertfordshire, and London, creating and leading wedding ceremonies and vow renewals. What sets my work apart is simple: I don't work from templates. Every ceremony I write is built entirely from scratch, shaped around the real story, voice, and relationship of the couple I'm working with — never a generic script with names swapped in, and never a paragraph recycled from someone else's day.
For weddings, that means getting to know you properly before I write a word: how you met, the moments that matter most, the people you want honoured, and the tone you're hoping for, whether that's heartfelt, funny, traditional, or entirely your own. Whether you're planning a religious ceremony or an entirely non-religious one, a big celebration or an intimate elopement, a first wedding or a second, I shape the day around what's meaningful to you rather than a fixed format. For vow renewals, I focus on the story you've built together since your wedding day — what's changed, what's endured, and what you want to say to each other now, whether you're marking a milestone anniversary or simply want to reaffirm your commitment in front of the people you love.
My process is collaborative from start to finish: we talk, I write, we consider whether ritual belongs in your ceremony, we refine the words together, and then the day itself arrives — calm, warm, and entirely yours, with me handling every detail so you don't have to think about them.
One of the things I love most is helping couples explore ritual. Handfasting, sand ceremonies, ring warmings, tree plantings — these small, symbolic moments can add real depth to a ceremony, and I enjoy talking through which, if any, feels right for your day. This is especially meaningful for couples blending two families, where a ritual can become a powerful way of marking that new chapter — a shared vow to stepchildren, a sand ceremony poured by every child involved — something I take particular care over, having guided several families through exactly that.
I also bring a background as a lawyer into this work. While my focus now is entirely on ceremony, that training shaped how I work: careful attention to detail, calm handling of paperwork and process, and comfort managing a room under pressure. Couples often tell me this comes through in how organised and steady I am on the day itself, and how carefully every detail is handled alongside the emotional heart of the ceremony.
What couples consistently tell me matters most is feeling truly listened to — that the ceremony they received sounded like them, not like a stranger reading a script. That feedback shapes everything about how I continue to work: fewer forms, more real conversation, and a genuine curiosity about the people in front of me.
Giving back matters to me too. A portion of every booking I take on is donated to Alzheimer's Society, a cause close to my heart — supported not just occasionally, but as an ongoing part of how I run my business, all year round.
I travel across Essex, Hertfordshire, and London, and I'm always happy to discuss ceremonies further afield, including destination weddings. Every booking includes as many planning conversations as you need, a fully bespoke written ceremony, rehearsal guidance where helpful, and my complete attention and presence on the day itself — no rushing between bookings, no divided focus, no second couple waiting in the wings.
If you're looking for a ceremony that feels unmistakably yours — thoughtfully written, personally delivered, and completely free of anything that feels recycled or borrowed — I'd love to hear your story and start building it together. Get in touch, and let's talk about your day.
I write and lead a ceremony that's entirely yours — no script, no template, just your story, told properly.
A registrar makes it legal, but the words are fixed. I write your ceremony from scratch — you can say (almost) anything, anywhere, any length, any ime.
Usually yes — a short separate legal appointment, plus me for the ceremony you actually want.
As soon as you have a date — popular Saturdays go fast, but I'll always try to make it work!
Absolutely — handfasting, sand ceremonies, ring warmings, and more. We'll find what feels right for you.
This is something I love working on — a ritual can be a beautiful way to mark that new chapter together.
As personal as you want. Your in-jokes, your story, your tone — heartfelt, hilarious, or both!
Yes — Hertfordshire and London regularly, and further afield for the right day.
Every ceremony planning conversation you need, a fully written ceremony, rehearsal guidance, and me — fully present, not rushing off to a second booking.
Because I don't do generic. Every ceremony I write could only ever belong to the couple it's written for-you- its your amazing day and only yours- that's worth a celebration !
