We offer two ceremony options: 1) A personally designed ceremony – £280 (includes a £75 non‑refundable booking fee) - Fully personalised ceremony crafted around your story - Your choice of vows and promises - Two readings included - Up to two meaningful symbolic rituals (optional) - Religious content if desired - A commemorative certificate included 2) A pre‑written ceremony – £150 (includes a £50 non‑refundable booking fee) - A beautifully written, ready‑made ceremony - Your choice of vows, promises, and one reading - Optional commemorative certificate available for £5 Travel Costs Prices do not include mileage, which is charged at 0.45ppm for return journeys to venues outside Essex. Civil Weddings is an independent celebrant service near Maldon, Essex, founded by Chris Champion, a former registrar with over 11 years’ experience.

Chris specialises in creating personalised ceremonies for weddings, civil partnership celebrations, commitment ceremonies, naming ceremonies, and renewals of vows. Couples can choose between a personally designed script, crafted entirely around your ideas and story, or a prewritten script offering a personalised but formal style similar to a registrar ceremony.

Your ceremony will be relaxed, joyful, and tailored to you. With your input and Chris’s guidance, everything will run smoothly while remaining free from unnecessary fuss.

Chris officiates ceremonies throughout Essex, year‑round, at the time and location of your choice. If you’re marrying abroad, he can help you celebrate with family and friends when you return. Religious or symbolic elements that hold personal meaning can also be woven seamlessly into your ceremony.

We got in contact with Chris a couple of months before our wedding. he was quick to respond and set up an initial meeting which helped us know everything we needed to proceed with him. he helped us to craft the wedding ceremony we wanted with parts from a registration and parts for just us and he really helped us through the process of getting our personal vows sorted.
