What is your most memorable wedding?
The two that were a surprise to all the guests!
Describe your style in 5 adjectives.
Friendly, fun, efficient, calm, warm
What about your business are you most proud of?
The fact that I've had to work incredibly hard to pass the incredibly rigorous training with Humanists UK (the only celebrant network whose training has achieved a Quality Mark) and the fact that every single one of my couples gets exactly the ceremony they want; totally bespoke and deeply meaningful to them - the beautiful, beating heart of their big day.
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Plan ahead; discuss everything; assume nothing and remember that it's YOUR day - don'y allow it to be hijacked by others or feel you have to conform to a steriotype of what your ceremony should look like.
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
Dogs bringing in the rings; children being 'best people'; Grandma's writing and reading poems; friends singing for the couple - every one of my ceremonies is personal from start to finish, as they are written from scratch with each couple, so you can include any element that has relevance and meaning for you.
Describe your typical process with a couple.
This is a bespoke service – I don’t use templates or a ‘mix and match’ buffet of elements: your ceremony is written from scratch, in close collaboration with you.
As a prospective client you will be offered a free introductory meeting with me, to see if we feel that we would be a good match to work together on your ceremony.
To secure your chosen date in my diary, I ask that a 50% deposit is paid when you confirm that I’m the celebrant you’d like to work with.
We then organise to meet for a longer planning meeting of approximately 2 – 3 hours, during which I gather all of the information about what you’d like to include in your ceremony.
I will liaise via email with you and with anyone you have chosen to make a reading or other form of input to the ceremony should that be necessary..
I then write the first draft of your ceremony script and email it to you for amendments.
When I receive your edits, I write the final version of your ceremony. Once you have confirmed the final copy is accurate, I ask for the remaining payment.
I create one ‘working’ version including all the prompts, music cues etc to be used on the day and another presentation copy for you as a keepsake.
I then conduct the ceremony on the date and at the venue of your choosing. (For weddings, we can conduct a rehearsal before the big day, if that is something you’d like)
What is the most unusual thing you’ve been asked to plan?
The surprise weddings!
How do you ensure a stress-free wedding?
There will always be some stress, but if you remember it's your day, not everyione else's and you plan carefully and in plenty of time it'll be more excitement than actual anxiety.
What is your favourite moment at a wedding?
Telling the story of each couple - it's a total privilege to have them share all the details of how they met; the trials and tribulations they've overcome; the reasins they love each other and want to share a life. Sharing that with their guests on the day is always a joy - very emotional, sometimes funny and often incredibly moving.
