Visionaire Photographic Full Description

Visionaire is a luxury, fashion-led and contemporary wedding photography studio, established in 1989 and recognised among the Top 100 Wedding Photographers in the UK.

Our approach combines informal documentary photography with a refined editorial and fine-art perspective. Documentary soul. Editorial eye. Artistic approach.

We look beyond the obvious moments, creating photographs with atmosphere, character and a distinctive visual language — images that feel as individual as the creative couples we photograph.

We are also proud to have qualified with World’s Best Wedding Photos, recognised as the definitive directory of the world’s best wedding photographers. Its photographers are selected for the quality, creativity and artistic distinction of their work.

From celebrations at Eastwell Manor and across Kent and the South East, to destination weddings in France and throughout Europe, I offer contemporary, creative, informal and fashion-led photography for couples looking for something beyond conventional wedding photography.

Coverage can include bridal and groom preparations, documentary informality, fashion-led portraits, family and celebration images, through to the ceremony, reception and evening party celebrations.

The result is a considered visual record of the day — combining documentary observation, fashion and portraiture with an artistic approach to create photographs with lasting visual impact.

Message from the team

Name of Wedding Contact: Nigel
I genuinely love what I do. After more than three decades behind the camera, I still get a real buzz from creating something unexpected — seeing the possibilities in a moment, a location, a dress, a light or simply the way two people interact. My approach is relaxed & creative, but never predictable. I mix documentary observation with a fashion and editorial eye, always looking for character, atmosphere and creative edge. Ultimately, it's about making photography as unique as my clients are.

What surprised us most was the variety
What surprised us most was the variety. Some images are beautifully quiet and intimate, others are wonderfully spontaneous, and then there are photographs that feel almost editorial — at times dramatic and quite unexpected. Yet somehow the whole collection still feels completely coherent and completely ours. We wanted photographs with character rather than convention, and that is exactly what we received. Years from now I think we’ll remember not only what our wedding looked like, but how it

FAQs
Find out a bit more from our FAQs

What is your most memorable wedding?

We shot the first civil wedding in the Kent, at the lovely Eastwell Manor Hotel. A very memorable event, lots of fun and some amazing party shots!

Describe your style in 5 adjectives.

Creative · Documentary · Informal · Editorial · Innovative

What about your business are you most proud of?

There are quite a few things I'm proud of. Being recognised in 2024 among the Top 100 Wedding Photographers in the UK, and being accepted by World’s Best Wedding Photos, where the standard for membership is exceptionally high, are certainly highlights.

I've also photographed weddings in some extraordinary places — from castles and stately homes in Kent to London hotels, the Ritz, the Savoy, the London Eye and celebrations across Italy, Ireland and the UK.

Having Nikon use some of our wedding photographs in their 100th anniversary film was another particularly memorable moment.

But perhaps what I'm most proud of is still having the freedom to evolve creatively. I don't want to be pigeonholed into one particular style or category. I enjoy allowing the work to move between documentary, fashion, editorial and contemporary photography — following the moment and seeing where the creativity takes me.

After all these years, I'm still enjoying the journey. :)

What is your No.1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Prepare well in advance for the day and trust your carefully selected providers to do a stunning job.

What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?

Simple is often better than complex

Describe your typical process with a couple.

Communication is everything. I like to meet with couples before the wedding to understand what they genuinely like — and just as importantly, what they don't. We talk about the visual style of the day, the dress, any particular themes, locations or ideas they have, and what they would like their photography to feel like.

It's also important to know about the unexpected. Special guests, surprises, fireworks, unusual plans or moments that are important to the couple can all make a difference to how I approach the day.

From those conversations, I can build a clear understanding of the couple and their plans, while still leaving plenty of room for spontaneity.

On the day, my aim is simple: to bring my creative eye, experience and energy to the wedding and make the very best photographs I can.

What is the No.1 photo that you think every couple should take?

A simple, informal photograph of the couple completely absorbed in the day — enjoying each other, unaware of the camera. For me, those are often the photographs that become the most meaningful, because nothing is being performed or posed. It is simply the couple, in the moment, together.

What is the most original photo you’ve been asked to take at a wedding?

From a helicopter — before the days of drones. We had to be rather more inventive to get the aerial shot back then.

What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?

Mega umbrellas, a sense of humour and go with the flow — this is the UK, after all!

Rain doesn't have to be a problem; sometimes it creates some of the most atmospheric photographs of the day. Embrace it, enjoy it and carpe diem. The best thing a couple can do is have fun and let me worry about the photographs.

Describe how you got into photography.

I grew up in an artistic family. My father was a professional watercolour painter, so I always knew I would eventually find my way into some form of creative environment.

I've always enjoyed creating things, whether through photography, art or simply bringing ideas together visually. That creative process is a fundamental part of who I am, and photography gives me the opportunity to combine observation, imagination and technique in one place.

But perhaps the best part of the job is seeing the reaction at the end of the day — knowing that I've created photographs that genuinely excite and delight the people I've photographed.
