Doubly cool, candid and contemporary wedding photography
Two for Joy Photography is Nix and Meg. Two big personalities with a real eye for the occasion. Two different styles – one formal, one candid – simultaneously capturing two very different views of the day.
Meg has a fashion background, is meticulous and creates incredibly beautiful must-have shots. Nix is a contemporary artist with the split-second timing to grab those unmissable moments of pure emotion. Two photographers. Twice the shots. Twice the joy.
We split and shadow the happy couple. Meg stays with the bride and her entourage focusing on preparations on the special day. Nix hangs out with the groom, best man and friends. We then unite for the ceremony and reception. Meg takes care of the group shots whilst Nix unobtrusively mingles with the guests like a photo ninja picking them off when they’re relaxed, living in the moment and they’re least expecting. That’s how we capture the formal and natural moments throughout the day and night, including the last dance.
Lastly, there’s Joy herself. Joy is our most curious boothless photo booth. Beneath her sleek wooden retro exterior, she’s packed with state-of-the-art tech to give you and your guests wonderful well-lit and flattering fun shots. Really, we should be called Two & Joy.

What is your most memorable wedding?
It has to be Las Vegas - it was amazing!
Describe your style in 5 adjectives.
Cool, Creative, Contemporary, Classic and relaxed.
What about your business are you most proud of?
Without exception after every wedding we have been contacted by the couples and their friends & family to say how much they enjoyed having us at the wedding. I don't think you can get a bigger compliment and it makes us feel proud to do (and love) what we do.
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Try and delegate before the day, have a list (people love a list) that way people know what their jobs are on the day and you can stay stress free. Tip #2 Take tags out of dresses and sticky labels of shoes before the big day!
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
We love seeing our couples read/open something from their soon to be husbands/wives in the morning before the ceremony. We get some great time synced sneaky pictures - which is such special memory of the big day!
Describe your typical process with a couple.
Once the couple have decided they like our work then the next most important thing is that they like us. We are going to be part of the biggest day of their lives and we want to make sure they are comfortable with us. At this meeting we get a feel for the type of photography they would love and go from there. We have as much or as little contact as the couple would like. Some couples like to do a Pinterest board and some couples like to leave it to us to come up with the creative ideas. Either is fine. We usually meet at the venue to discuss things in slightly finer details and meet the wedding coordinator if there is one. We give our couples and example list of group shots, this gives them an idea of where to start. It can seem a bit overwhelming having to think of everything. Some couples don't want group pictures which gives us a bit more time with the bride and groom on the day, we are flexible. We do a schedule of where we will be when and give this to the couples and wedding coordinator/venue. We like to capture the day as it unfolds so make sure we are in the right place at the right time.
What is the No. 1 photo that you think every couple should take?
Confetti! We love it, love the energy, people love to get involved.
What is the most original photo you’ve been asked to take at a wedding?
The bride and groom with their two dogs and two horses on top of a fell in the Peak District!
What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?
Fab umbrellas
Describe how you got into photography.
Meg: 11 year old me driving with my Dad wondering what he was getting in such a tizz about "THE LIGHT, Meg just look at THE LIGHT”. We sped back to the house for his camera where we just managed to capture the amazing sky before it returned to it's bleak self, he tried to explain that "photography is all about the light". Not sure I really understood what he meant until the film was developed and I was blown away by what we'd captured... that's where it all started....
Nikki: When I was about 13 I used a fun camera taking pictures through sunglasses and coloured tracing paper spending all of my pocket money on developing pictures until my uncle lent me his camera and showed me how to develop film!
