Thomas Hare Photography Full Description
Hi, thanks for stopping by! I'm Tom, a wedding photographer covering Cornwall and Devon (and further if you need me to!). My favourite part of any wedding is getting to know you and your guests so I can tell your story. Having also worked as an actor, I understand the importance of timing and capturing a particular moment. I recognise that the first look, kiss, and dance only happen once and pass in the blink of an eye. The fleeting nature of time inspires me to click the shutter as the magic unfolds, creating evocative photos that can be cherished forever. Services Offered I offer a range of wedding day packages with a fine-art documentary style. My relaxed and unobtrusive approach will help you act naturally in front of the camera, resulting in pictures that reflect the real you (no cheesy photo grins!). I'll be a welcome addition to your day, flexible, professional and a bit daft. Contact me today to arrange a consultation where we can get to know each other.

Absolutely fantastic
If you are looking for a wedding photographer, then look no further. Tom is a delightful young man whose communication was excellent from the start. He even arranged for us to have a pre-wedding shoot so that we could all get to know each other before the big day. On the day of our wedding, he captured so many moments, and we weren’t even aware he was there most of the time. The huge selection of gorgeous photos that he sent, has given us, and our friends and family, lots of choice for prints and album photographs. He even played the piano whilst our guests were finishing their meal, which was really lovely. Tom is polite, friendly and so professional, and his prices are much more reasonable than most other local wedding photographers. We can’t recommend him highly enough. Thankyou so much Tom.

Not just a photographer but part of the family!
I don't know where to start with Tom. From first speaking to him, meeting him at the pre-wedding shoot, to having him with us at the wedding to getting our amazing images sent through on Friday (16/08/24) he has been part of the family! You instantly feel relaxed around him (which for two awkward people who really don't know how to pose, it was a welcoming feeling!). He is genuinely interested in your story and asks you about your time together which brings back some amazing memories that by the end of the story you are all laughing at. He came into a chaotic room on the morning of our wedding with make up, clothes and whatever else thrown about and he just fit right in and to be honest, I almost forgot he was there as a photographer because he became part of the wedding party and added to the atmosphere. Everyone has said how friendly and funny he is, and the select few people we have shown the photos to, they've said how amazing the images are and he's managed to capture some amazing moments. Even just of the kids playing. They're all beautiful images and memories that we will have to cherish forever. We honestly cant thank him enough. It's a weird concept that you invite a 'stranger' to such a huge occasion in your life but straight away, within minutes of meeting Tom, that feeling disappears and you genuinely feel like you've known him for years. We will be staying in touch with Tom, following him on his social media platforms and hopefully using him in the future for whatever adventures we have next!

Just like an additional member of our family…
20 years together, 17 years engaged, but after a couple of life changing events, it was about time to finally get married! We first spoke with Tom in January and he instantly put us at ease. We explained that our special day was going to be very small and intimate, 8 of us in total and that was including Tom… Tom asked what specific photos we wanted, together with any special details to look out for on the day, for example, I wore my Mum’s pearl necklace, and had 3 lilac flowers in my bouquet. One rose to represent each parent that we have lost, so that we could ‘include’ them in our day. The day arrived and so did we at the venue, Tom was there, and greeted us with his friendly manner and beaming smile on his face - truly loving the Wedding Day atmosphere as much as we were. He just slotted right in with us, was not intrusive at all, in fact it felt just like an additional member of the family taking some snapshots! Being so few guests, there literally was nowhere for Tom to hide. At no point did we feel uncomfortable, or that any shots were staged - it all just flowed naturally from arrival, through the ceremony, the little walk out to the garden, through the confetti tunnel and not forgetting our walk across the garden from the bluebells under the old oak tree to the garden path, very easily the best wedding day we’ve had! This day was topped off very quickly (within 3 days) with the ‘sneak peek’ set of such gorgeous photos and ‘slideshow’ accompanied by ‘our song’ that we could ever have wished for, two very emotive pieces of work - then 1 week later, we received our full gallery. The photos were stunning, every little detail that we had asked for and so many more that we did not even think of, but thanks to Tom’s trained eye for those special attention to detail moments, these have been caught in time forevermore - Tom we are so glad, and will continue to be so eternally grateful, that we chose you to be our Photographer of the Day….

So much more than a wedding photographer.
We met Tom at a wedding fair and instantly found the photographer for our wedding. He was helpful, professional and full of ideas and even danced with us on the evening. The pictures we have received are absolutely fantastic. He has given us extra special memories in the photographs provided. So much more than a wedding photographer.

Excellent Wedding Photographer
We had a wonderful experience with Thomas Hare Photography. He is very friendly, conscientious and professional. We enjoyed the whole process of working with him and were thrilled with our final photographs which totally captured the spirit of the day. Thomas is very easy to communicate with and he worked very flexibly with our celebrant and venue. Thomas was really on the ball, capturing some lovely spontaneous moments too. We would highly recommend him.

We cannot thank you enough!
(Booking tom) was the best decision we've ever made (the decision of getting Married only slightly topped it). It was as if everything happened for a reason so we could experience the exceptional service quality of his work. Tom was beyond our imagination: professional, direct, friendly, funny, organised and just led the wedding in such a wonderful manner. Everyone loved him. Absolutely incredible. We highly recommend Thomas Hare Photography to make you feel extra special on this important day.

The best Cornish photographer..in my opinion
From the very first correspondence to meeting up to discuss wedding photo plans Tom was absolutely amazing all the way through. Very friendly demeanour about him, made us feel at ease and fully confident with our choice in him. We wanted the day to be captured candidly, photos without people posing. Tom went above and beyond our expectations, the photos were everything we hoped for.and more. He captured our special day beautifully. I would very happily recommend him to anyone who asks.

FAQs
Find out a bit more from our FAQs

What is your most memorable wedding?

Ellie & Ollie in 2023 - we had a beautiful spring/summer day in May. A folk band played Ellie down the aisle and finished the song right at the moment she arrived at the front. A beautiful ceremony in a huge church in Falmouth followed by a circus style street procession through Falmouth for cream teas and group shots. A wonderfully theatrical wedding for a truly 'one-of-a-kind- couple!

Describe your style in 5 adjectives.

Natural, relaxed, intimate, timeless, playful.

What about your business are you most proud of?

It sounds silly but I love how much my children (6 and 3) get involved. They visit me at wedding fairs, play weddings and wedding fairs at home and take a genuine interest. They wouldn't care as much if I didn't care so I see it as a reflection of how much I love what I do.

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Book me! Haha, seriously? Make it your day. Have what you want more than what you think you should have. Want to disappear for an hour to swim in the sea? Do it! It's your day, do what will make you happy.

What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?

Oh, so many little touches! Silver sixpences, fabric from their Grandmother's wedding dress, the list goes on. I can't pick my favourite because they were all uniquely special to each couple. The FOB bringing out a towbar in the middle of his speech was particularly memorable though!

Describe your typical process with a couple.

After the initial enquiry comes through (however that happens) we arrange a time to chat either on the phone, a video call, or meet up for a coffee. It's a chance to have a chat, ask/answer any questions and generally get a feel for whether we click or not (bad photography pun not intended!). I'm with you for a massive part of such a special day, we've got to get on and you need to be comfortable with me to make the day fun and easy!

What is the No. 1 photo that you think every couple should take?

Not 1 specific photo but I do think that couples should give enough time to the couples photos. Partly because it's a window of time for you to spend some alone time, just the two of you (and me but I really try to be invisible and encourage the connection between you).

What is the most original photo you’ve been asked to take at a wedding?

So, we spotted a tyre swing on the beach (not original at all I know!) and I wanted to get a nice romantic shot of the bride on the swing with the groom behind. We got to the swing and it was a bit too dirty to risk a beautiful, white, silk dress on it. The groom then says "I'll get on it" and proceeds to leap onto the swing, nearly crashing into the bride who is holding both champagne glasses. The joy and fun in those photos make me smile every time I see them.

What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?

It's Cornwall so we've always got to be prepared for rain, it's just a fact in this beautiful county. Have a plan B with any outdoor wedding, or just be prepared to embrace the rain. Get umbrellas (preferably a whole set that match) and don't let it spoil the day. Remember - nothing has happened to you until you react to it.

Describe how you got into photography.

I was 8 and we had a school trip to France. We never really did holidays (especially not abroad) when I was a child so this was a big thing for me. I had a basic little film camera bought for me to take and I loved snapping away in the streets of Quimper. What I realised is that those pictures were like a magical link back to those memories; there was a house covered in plates and because I had a photo of it I can remember walking up to it with my friends and the fact that we were doing a trail... Anyway, a single photo can unlock a whole story and make it real again. To me that is magic.
