Full Description
I would describe my approach to wedding photography as modern, natural, elegant, mostly reportage style. I like to do classic posed, beautiful shots of the Bride & Groom, as well as stylish, classically composed ‘formal' group shots of family / bridesmaids / groomsmen etc, (whatever the couple wants) as well as all the details and personal touches, but mostly I take lots of natural, candid shots, capturing the guests and everything that goes on, in a discreet, unobtrusive way, so that the images reflect the reality of the day, and the emotions captured are real. I mostly use long lenses, so I can get close up shots from a discreet distance. Having said that, if a client has a particular approach or style they want me to follow, Im very open to that. Im there to serve the Bride and Groom, and to give them images they will love. So if you wanted some quirky or humorous type shots, Im very happy to adopt this style for certain images too. I take around 1500 - 2000 photos, and from these select the very best images, giving the couple around 450 - 550 (sometimes more) exceptional and high quality images. The images are delivered to you on a stylish Walnut USB memory stick, which comes in a Walnut presentation box, engraved with ‘Our Wedding’. Photos are delivered around two weeks after the wedding. All the images are adjusted for optimum brightness, contrast, skin tone etc, to make them look their very best. I’m also skilled with Photoshop and retouching, and am happy to do additional work on up to twenty of your favourite images, at no extra charge, this is part of the package I offer. For example, if you wanted retouching and / or changing certain images to classic high contrast black and white, or a vintage look, or pastel colours, or more vivid colours, things like that. My fee also includes a visit to the Wedding location, ideally with you, to work out the best places for certain key shots.

Simon was easy to plan with and happy to share his advice and take on our suggestions too. On the day he managed to get some amazing shots without pulling us away from our guests for too long which was just what we wanted. Simon was really discreet and captured some beautiful moments of the ceremony, speeches and dance floor. After the wedding we got over 600 photos back within the 3 week timeframe Simon had given us and we absolutely love them!

What is your most memorable wedding?

Dan & Eve's wedding, at Swallows Oast in East Sussex. They were two of the nicest people Ive ever met, and so hugely in love, childhood sweethearts who had been together for seven years, since they were sixteen. Everything was perfect, beautiful location, gorgeous day, lovely guests and everything was so relaxed but totally perfect, and everyone was just incredibly happy.

Describe your style in 5 adjectives.

Beautiful, stylish, modern, natural, timeless.

What about your business are you most proud of?

People say Im a very happy and relaxed person, and blend in effortlessly, and they barely notice me taking pictures and are surprised by how many shots Ive taken that they really love. Couples really love my Bride & Groom shots, described as 'magical' 'stunning' and 'like a fairy-tale'.

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Don't get stressed out by details not being perfect, or not being on schedule. Nobody minds if things are not perfect, they just want you to be happy and enjoy your day. So if anything goes wrong, don't worry about it, let someone else deal with it!

What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?

Doing all their own flowers, which were simple but completely beautiful.

Describe your typical process with a couple.

Showing them my book, discussing what they like, what they want, how they want their day to go, what is important for them. Then meeting up again closer to the wedding day to check out the venue and go through the schedule / timetable. After the wedding I edit the pics from 1500-2000 down to 250 - 300 of the very best shots, which I deliver on USB stick. I will work on up to six of their key images with photoshop and retouching to make them really stunning, perfect images. I will put together a high quality glossy coffee table style photo book, if they want me to.

What is the No. 1 photo that you think every couple should take?

Just the two of them alone, somewhere beautiful and quiet, having a private, joyous, romantic moment together away from everyone else, even if its just for a few minutes.

What is the most original photo you’ve been asked to take at a wedding?

Bride & groom, plus Bridesmaids and Groomsmen being chased by a T-Rex! The final shot came out great!

What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?

Rainy days can be wonderful, the lighting is very flattering on skin tones, and moody skies can be very atmospheric too. I would wait for a moment when the rain has stopped to get some shots with dramatic skies, and work fast, before the rain starts again. And if the rain continues, I would make a feature of it, without asking the bride to get wet - unless she was happy to!

Describe how you got into photography.

Ive been passionate about photography since I was ten years old, I used to take my camera in to my primary school! Ive been taking pictures ever since.
