Take your time and make it personal to you.
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
These are often of small touches that mean so much.
Describe your typical process with a couple.
My process does not include hard sell, once a couple has saved a date with me I send them lots of questions about their wedding and the timings, I research the venue and travel arrangements, Before the day of the wedding, I will be in touch again to touch base and check the arrangements still stand. I like to create open channels with the couples that I have the honour of being their wedding photographer. On the day I arrive early, I like to create a visual story of the whole day; the venue as the day begins, the bride as she begins to transform herself. Throughout the day my aim is to create a story that combines beautiful imagery with all of the emotions and happiness of the day, together with beautiful portraits of the newly married couple. At the end of the day, I do not clock watch, I make sure each part of the day is recorded. Images are backed up the same night and the next day I start to edit them. Depending on which option the couple choose, the images are edited wihtin a few days and delivered via an online secure gallery with a USB back up posted soon afterwards.
What is the No. 1 photo that you think every couple should take?
A beautiful portrait of the two of you together.
What is the most original photo you’ve been asked to take at a wedding?
Manny original photos derive from the coupes interests, therefore making interesting and elegant portrait whilst the bride and groom wore bright trainers, they were both runners!
What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?
If it is raining on your wedding day we will celebrate this fact! I carry umbrellas and we can still get some beautiful images outside using flash and capturing the raindrops. Inside the venue, we will find interesting backgrounds to complement your wedding portraits.
Describe how you got into photography.
I first came into photography many decades ago whilst studying art at college. I loved the technical aspects and the exciting time in the darkroom as amazing images occurred before my eyes. Fast forward a number of years and after being a school teacher I started teaching art after developing a love for landscape and portrait photography. I was head of art and design and taught photography and film for many years before leaving to become a full-time professional photographer.
