What is your most memorable wedding?
My first will always be a standout to me as it really tested me, but ultimately set me on this path that I now love so much. After that there are a few.
One other really special wedding involved just the couple and four guests, it was so intimate and beautiful. After that, a recent one involving a friend of 18 years as the groom, and the venue being Spitbank Fort. Just a truly incredible day for both the venue wow-factor and all the feels of being their to capture a great friend's big day.
Describe your style in 5 adjectives.
Modern, Relaxed, Creative, Fun, Informal
What about your business are you most proud of?
How far it has come in such a short amount of time. I start with a couple of weddings the first year, then a few more the second year, the third year I had a dozen or so and this last year I had 29!! Being published in a few magazines has also been a massive boost for me, both business wise and personally. And also being a nominee for Best Newcomer at the Dorset Wedding Supplier Awards last year was incredible.
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Start early! Don't get distracted from what you want your day to be about and how it will reflect you both as a couple. It should be unique to you and full of your personalties. The best weddings are those where you can see the couple in everything that fills their day.
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
The wedding at Spitbank Fort had lots of great details, but being a real Star Wars fan, when I saw the table plan was in the shape of The Millennium Falcon, I freaked out... AMAZING!!
Describe your typical process with a couple.
After the initial enquiry, I like to set up a coffee date - or consultation - so we can meet and chat in person. We'll do the deposit and contract here, then we can book the fun stuff like your pre-wedding shoot and venue visit. After the wedding, your photos will generally be ready within 2-4 weeks to view on your online gallery. My general time for completion is 6-8 weeks (time of year dependant). If I can meet you in person to hand over, that's my preferred way of doing things, otherwise, I will be in touch once everything is ready to let you know your package is on its way to you.
What is the No. 1 photo that you think every couple should take?
A wedding day selfie with me!
What is the most original photo you’ve been asked to take at a wedding?
Again, I'm going to the wedding at Spitbank Fort. The couple really wanted a 'First Touch' photo. So before the bride entered the ceremony, I got the groom to stand with his back to the door, the bride with hers to the other side and then they linked hands and their faces beamed with happiness! It was pretty special to watch.
What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?
Some umbrellas, maybe a pair of wellies each and a sense of adventure and fun. I don't let the weather stop me and it shouldn't ruin your day either.
Describe how you got into photography.
I've always loved photography, but I guess it all came to life for me when my husband bought me a camera about 7 years ago. We travelled a fair amount and I really got into architectural and street photography. I was booked for my first wedding based on this and I haven't looked back.
