What is your most memorable wedding?
We were the photographers & videographers for a "Just the Two of Us" wedding on the edge of the Victoria Falls in Zambia - we were the guests, the witnesses and we documented the day in picture and film - it was truly an honour and the only wedding we have ever filmed that was really as small as bride, groom, minister and us!
Describe your style in 5 adjectives.
Friendly, storytelling, timeless, creative, relaxed
What about your business are you most proud of?
We won the 2022 Global Wedding Awards for Best Husband and wife Wedding Videography Team, and were finalists in the Guides for Brides Best of Customer service award in the UK!
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Relax and have fun with the planning, there is no need to stress, if the little details you had your heart set on don't quite work out, it's not serious!
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
A beautiful bridal bouquet with little lockets with photographs of grandparents/parents who had passed away.
Describe your typical process with a couple.
We like to meet up with the bridal couple, either in our home or at their venue to have a coffee and a chat about their dream day. We like to get to know them and their love story! After they've decided we are a good match and have booked us we like to set a date for the pre-wedding shoot (which is included in all our photography packages) as it's a great way for them to feel comfortable in our presence, for them to see how we work and for us to get to know one another!
What is the No. 1 photo that you think every couple should take?
The First Kiss at the altar - it is a moment in time captured forever - it represents their union and cannot be taken again!
What is the most original photo you’ve been asked to take at a wedding?
The bridal rings in a Hindu Girls Hair - her hair was dressed and knotted into a million flowers and hung all the way down her back - it was extremely beautiful, but the poor bride had such a headache as it was a very heavy head dress!
What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?
Umbrellas! Oh and wellies! Wellies are great for a fun outdoor shot in the rain
Describe how you got into photography.
Derek started filming and photographing white water rafting from a kayak on the Zambezi River, and then progressed to bungi jumping, elephant back safaris and helicopter adventures... when we moved to the UK in 2000 the adrenalin sports weren't as abundant, and, as we had photographed and filmed several friend's weddings in Zimbabwe, (Debbie as Derek's assistant!) we started to do it commercially in the UK! After several years as the assistant, Debbie has come into her own and you now get two very experienced wedding photographers for the price of one! Two angles and two perspectives! His and hers, romance and details!
