What is your most memorable wedding?
Every wedding is memorable, every wedding is different. I love working at different venues, finding the perfect backdrops and capturing memories that will last a lifetime.
Describe your style in 5 adjectives.
Professional. Friendly. Reportage. Planning. Spontaneous.
What about your business are you most proud of?
The feedback I receive, I genuinely find this the best bit of being a wedding photographer. Please have a look at the feedback page on my website: https://www.pauldspencer.co.uk/customer-feedback
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Make sure you make time for yourselves to enjoy your wedding day.
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
To many to mention, singing waiters, firework displays, the couple growing plants to give to each guest (I still have mine). Often it's a kiss, a glance, words spoken or written on a wedding day, gifts and messages exchanged, all are too important to single out just one.
Describe your typical process with a couple.
I tailor every couple's wedding photography. To do this I'll ensure I have understood and meet the couple's brief. The type of coverage needed, how long they need me for and the types of finishes for their final images. Throughout the planning process, conversations, a rehearsal and by the time of their wedding day I will have every detail covered. This doesn't stop those spontaneous moments when you see and capture all the important moments.
What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?
Always have a 'Plan B'. It may be we need to wait to take the photos later. Looking for alternate locations indoors at rehearsal and I always carry portable studio equipment in case I need to work indoors. Sometimes we can make a feature of the rain and capture photos under an umbrella, or there may be locations with cover that can be used instead. You can't control the weather, but you can adapt and ensure you capture those special memories.
Describe how you got into photography.
A few years back I was asked to help a couple with their wedding photos and took a family portrait for my best friend and the rest as they say.... I studied for a City and Guilds in photography and started doing portrait and wedding photography on a part time basis. Wedding photography has become my key 'focus' and I am always thrilled to see the couple's reaction when they receive their wedding photos.
