Paul was recommended by a friend, and he did not disappoint at all. We had some group pictures, but most were candid shots. We hardly knew Paul was there, but the pictures produced are out of this world.

He was unobtrusive, personable, very professional
Paul shot our wedding (some time ago now) - and we were absolutely delighted with the results. Paul was very easy to deal with in the run-up to the wedding, and was extremely helpful in helping us think through what kind of shots we wanted, how to do the group shots, etc. On the day itself, it was great to have him there - he was unobtrusive, personable, very professional - he just became part of the occasion. And, my word, the photographs he took - they were great, and have recorded the day for us. Paul's style, I think, is journalistic, truthful (he uses the word 'reportage', which I think gets it); almost street photography, but in buildings! He took some great shots, capturing candid expressions and great moments. That's not to say that the larger 'set piece' photos were not great, they were too. My wife and I, and indeed all our family and friends, were delighted with the results, and we would not hesitate to recommend Paul to any brides and bridegrooms to be!

Paul photographed our wedding in Wells, Somerset, last year and did a fantastic job, right from our initial meeting with him where we walked through the plan for the day to the day itself and the delivery of our DVD and CD (and our subsequent annoying requests for mislaid DVDs and CDs). He was friendly, patient and polite throughout our time with him and made everyone – our guests as well as us – feel at ease. Our wedding day was undoubtedly the most important day of our lives - with all our loved ones being there too. My ability to blend into the day such that almost everyone ends up commenting on how they hardly knew I was there.

What is your No.1 wedding planning tip for couples?

As far as possible, book your suppliers based on how much you like them and their work, not on how much they cost.

What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?

Tables designated by muppet characters! I love the muppets.

Describe your typical process with a couple.

I will always have at least one pre-wedding meeting with couples to discuss the details of the day. After that, the day just unfolds as it will and I'll be there to capture it all as does.

After the wedding, the images are downloaded, backed up twice and then edited, processed and perfected, and a slideshow is created, before being handed over to you to enjoy.

What is the No.1 photo that you think every couple should take?

I think couples should leave the taking of photographs to the photographer!

What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?

An umbrella and an adventurous spirit!

Describe how you got into photography.

I got into photography as a teenager through my Dad, who was a keen amateur. I was always artistic and creative but particularly loved the nature of photography which requires traditional creativity and a "left brained" technical ability.
