What is your most memorable wedding?
Too hard to call! There are always memorable moments to take from every wedding and we try to capture them! The memorable days for us are the ones filled with loved-up relaxed couples surrounded by their happy friends and family.
Describe your style in 5 adjectives.
Creative, beautiful, composed, effortless, discreet
What about your business are you most proud of?
The work itself and the growth of the business.
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Don't feel pressure to follow convention or tradition. Stay true to the day that you both want.
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
Vows written for each other at a hand tying ceremony and beautiful crocheted flower brooches crafted by the Bride.
Describe your typical process with a couple.
Once we have officially booked our couple in we then meet for a coffee and often a reccie of their venue if its one we haven't photographed before. We spend an hour or two getting to know them and hear all their exciting plans for the big day. Its also a very practical session where we can get a feel for the day, the logistics and timings etc. We share our experience of weddings and offer advice on timings and all aspects of the day. About one month before the big day I sent our couple a shot planner so we know the details of any formal portraits and all final timings, our start and finish times, supplier details and contact information etc. If its been a while since the meet up then I like to have a phone call just to have a final chat through before the big day. After the wedding day we spend approx 2 days editing and processing the wedding and aim to deliver the final selection within 4 weeks.
What is the No. 1 photo that you think every couple should take?
It has to be a beautiful portrait of the two of them. But apart from a set of lovely portraits of the couple we don't follow a 'must have' photo approach, all days are different and will all have their own unique moments.
What is the most original photo you’ve been asked to take at a wedding?
Our style is reportage so we capture the day as it unfolds without staging shots so we don't tend to get 'novelty' shot requests - thank goodness!
What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?
Don't be disheartened, it WILL NOT spoil your day. This is Great Britain! But always bring some pretty umbrellas! We may have to drop our knives and forks and dash out for some portraits if the monsoon drops to a drizzle so being up for getting out and huddling under umbrellas. Some of our favourite portraits are rainy day ones :)
Describe how you got into photography.
Sort of accidentally! We're actually both graphic designers and art directors and met at a branding agency. Photography was part of both of our art degrees so it has always been there. We were asked to photograph a friends wedding, we loved it, they loved the photos and it kind of went from there, very organically on a path of its own! Eight years on and we've photographed almost 300 weddings and have built a flourishing business doing what we love!
