Nina Dodd Photography Full Description
Nina Dodd started off as a press photographer in 1995 in Finland, and her photos have been published in over 50 magazines and newspapers internationally. Her assignments have included shooting the concerts of big stars such as The Rolling Stones, David Bowie, Nick Cave and Sting, the Finnish president Tarja Halonen and F-1 driver Kimi Räikkönen. Besides celebrities, she has done hundreds of shoots for food, interior, women's, music, hunting, travel and business magazines. She has also done a great amount of commercial work - business portraits, events and life-style product photos - and private functions, family, child and couples' portraits. With such an extensive portfolio and experience in fast-paced photography, she still enjoys people photography the most, and therefore makes an excellent wedding photographer. She is out-going and friendly, yet unintrusive and discreet when need be. She has shot over 500 weddings in the UK and Finland, and loves the excitement of a wedding day. "These are amongst the most important photos of your life, as they cannot be redone. It is wise to choose an experienced photographer, who besides having vision, and a thorough knowledge of her equipment, also has enough experience to react quickly to changing situations - which are plentiful at weddings." At the minute Nina divides her time between the UK (where she moved with her British-Finnish family in 2011) and her Helsinki studio, where she shoots for one week a month. Exmoor based Nina offers a range of wedding packages for the UK market, which you will find here: http://www.ninadodd.com/en/prices/

Frequently Asked Questions
(8)

What is your most memorable wedding?

Shooting in a hot-air balloon with just the wedding couple, vicar, pilot, bride's best friend and myself as passenger-guests.

Describe your style in 5 adjectives.

Positive, happy, experienced, fast-paced, documentary-style.

What about your business are you most proud of?

The fact that my customers are so happy with their photos.

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Do not stress over your wedding day. Even if things don't go according to your plan, just relax and enjoy it.

Describe your typical process with a couple.

Usually the wedding couple sees my photos on my website or at a wedding fair, or gets recommendations from other couples, whose weddings I've shot. After the initial contact, we exchange emails, sign a wedding shoot contract and meet up for a chat and a pre-wedding shoot.

What is the No. 1 photo that you think every couple should take?

A fun, relaxed wedding portrait that shows the personalities of the wedding couple.

What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?

A large umbrella and white wellies for the portrait shoot - and a plan B for having all the entertainment indoors. On my wedding day it rained for the whole day, yet we had a brilliant wedding.

Describe how you got into photography.

I got my first camera when I was 13, and have been taking photos ever since. I sold my first photos to a magazine in 1990 and turned full-time professional in 1995. Photography has been always been the love of my life, and I am truly grateful that I can do it for a living.
