What about your business are you most proud of?
What I am most proud of in my business is the trust and satisfaction reflected in the personal recommendations I receive. While delivering high-quality images is a fundamental aspect of my work, the fact that a significant number of my bookings come from the friends and family of previous couples speaks volumes. These personal recommendations are a testament to the positive impact of my work and the trust placed in me by those who have experienced my services first-hand. It means more than anything to know that my dedication to capturing special moments not only fulfills the expectations of my clients but also resonates deeply enough with their loved ones to inspire them to choose me for their own significant events. This cycle of trust and recommendation is the cornerstone of my business and a source of great pride in my work.
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Don't overdo it, do you really need that?
Describe your typical process with a couple.
My typical process with a couple begins with an initial consultation. This is a crucial step where we get to know each other and discuss your vision and expectations for the wedding day. It’s a great opportunity for you to share any specific requests or unique elements you want to include in your photographs.
Following the consultation, I'll provide a detailed plan outlining the photography schedule for your day. This includes key moments like the ceremony, reception, and any special traditions or segments you want to highlight.
On the wedding day, I blend into the background to capture candid and natural moments, focusing on the emotions and details that make your day unique. My approach is unobtrusive, allowing you to enjoy your day without feeling constantly under the lens.
After the wedding, I meticulously edit the photographs to ensure each image reflects the essence of your day. I then present these images in a private online gallery, where you can view and select your favorites.
Finally, I offer various options for albums and prints, allowing you to choose how you’d like to preserve and display your wedding memories. Throughout the entire process, I maintain open communication, ensuring your needs are met and your wedding photography experience is as seamless and enjoyable as possible.
What is the No. 1 photo that you think every couple should take?
As a photographer who values the unique nature of each couple, I understand that there isn't a single "number one" photo that fits everyone. Every couple has their own story, dynamics, and moments that are most meaningful to them. Therefore, my focus is on capturing those special, unrepeatable instances that are deeply personal and resonate specifically with each couple. Whether it's a shared laugh, a quiet embrace, or a look of love, the most important photo is the one that truly reflects the individuality and essence of their relationship. My goal is to capture those authentic moments, creating a collection of memories that are as unique and special as the couple themselves.
What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?
For a rainy day wedding, embrace the unexpected with a few key adjustments. Ensure a solid indoor backup plan and provide umbrellas and stylish rain boots for your guests. As a candid and natural photographer, you can capture unique, atmospheric shots, utilising the rain's natural light and reflections. Enhance the mood with soft, warm lighting like fairy lights or lanterns. Remember to have towels ready, advise on waterproof makeup and resilient hairstyles, and maintain clear communication with guests about any weather-related changes. Most importantly, keep a positive attitude, reminding everyone that the day is a celebration of love and unity, with the rain adding a uniquely romantic and memorable touch.
Describe how you got into photography.
Born in the scenic Truro, Cornwall, I embarked on a photography journey with an Action Photography degree, completed in 2009. Post-graduation, an exciting opportunity arose with Google Maps, prompting my family and I to relocate from our tranquil Cornish life to Essex.
This move marked a significant shift in my career, deepening my engagement with photography, particularly in wedding photography. Before this transition, I also honed my skills as a sports photographer, covering Premier League games, an experience that enriched my photographic flair and timing.
Currently, we're gearing up for another chapter, moving to The New Forest in Hampshire. My professional life is a balance between photographing 40-50 weddings annually and serving as a Google Maps Street View Photographer, a prestigious position among just 100 nationwide.
My passion for life and photography is the driving force behind my ability to capture the unique story of each wedding. With a blend of creativity and journalistic precision, I focus on all facets of your special day, from the intricate details to the candid, natural moments, creating lasting memories for generations to cherish.
