Martin Japheth Photography Full Description

I’m Martin, a North Wales wedding photographer based near Anglesey, covering weddings across North Wales, Cheshire, Snowdonia, the North West and beyond. My work blends natural documentary storytelling with relaxed editorial portraiture, creating wedding photographs that feel honest, elegant and timeless.

My approach is calm, friendly and unobtrusive. I believe your wedding day should feel like your wedding day, not a photoshoot. I focus on capturing real emotion, natural interactions, meaningful details and the atmosphere of the day as it unfolds. When gentle direction is needed, especially for couple portraits, family photographs or editorial-style moments, I guide you in a relaxed and reassuring way so nothing feels stiff, awkward or over-posed.

Couples often choose me because they want wedding photography that feels both authentic and refined. I look for the quiet moments as much as the big ones: the nervous excitement before the ceremony, the look between you as you exchange vows, the laughter during speeches, the movement of the dress, the emotion of family, and the small details that make your wedding personal to you.

I offer wedding photography packages designed to suit different levels of coverage, from more intimate wedding days to full-day storytelling. Depending on the package chosen, coverage can include bridal preparations, ceremony, couple portraits, family photographs, reception details, speeches, golden-hour portraits, first dance and evening celebrations. Engagement shoots are also available and are a lovely way to feel more comfortable in front of the camera before the wedding day.

My style is especially suited to couples who love natural light, elegant venues, coastal landscapes, country houses, manor houses, castles, mountains, gardens and relaxed luxury weddings. North Wales offers some of the most beautiful wedding backdrops in the UK, from Anglesey and Snowdonia to Conwy, Gwynedd and the coast. I love using these landscapes in a way that feels cinematic, romantic and personal, while always keeping the focus on you and your connection.

Alongside documentary coverage, I also create refined couple portraits with a fashion-inspired finish. These are not about forced posing or uncomfortable direction. They are about helping you stand, move, walk, hold each other and interact naturally so the final images feel confident, romantic and effortless.

What makes my service unique is the balance between experience, creativity and calmness. I bring over 30 years of photographic experience, a background in visual design, and a strong understanding of composition, light, storytelling and emotion. My aim is not simply to photograph how your wedding looked, but to preserve how it felt.

I also understand how important it is to choose a photographer you feel comfortable with. I take time to get to know my couples, understand what matters to them, and make the photography feel like a natural part of the day. Whether you are camera-confident or feel nervous about being photographed, I will help you feel relaxed, supported and at ease.

After the wedding, your photographs are carefully edited in my signature style, with attention to colour, tone, emotion and consistency. My aim is to create images that feel beautiful now and still feel timeless in years to come. Your final gallery is delivered online, making it easy to view, download and share your photographs with family and friends.

I photograph weddings across North Wales, Anglesey, Snowdonia, Gwynedd, Conwy, Cheshire and further afield. Whether you are planning an elegant country house wedding, a coastal celebration, a mountain elopement, a luxury venue wedding or a relaxed family-focused day, I would love to hear about your plans.

If you are looking for a calm, creative and experienced wedding photographer who will capture real moments with an editorial finish, I would be delighted to be part of your wedding day.

FAQs
Find out a bit more from our FAQs

What is your photography style?

My style blends relaxed documentary storytelling with elegant editorial portraiture. I love capturing real emotion, natural interactions and the atmosphere of the day, while also creating beautiful, refined portraits that feel timeless rather than overly posed.

What makes your wedding photography different?

I bring a calm, friendly presence to the day. I know how important it is for couples to feel comfortable, so I guide gently when needed and step back when real moments are unfolding. The result is wedding photography that feels natural, emotional and polished.

What is your favourite part of a wedding day?

I love the quiet moments just before the ceremony, the nervous excitement, the emotion between family members, and the first few seconds after the couple realise they are officially married. Those small, honest moments often become some of the most meaningful photographs.

How do you help couples who feel awkward in front of the camera?

Most couples tell me they feel awkward at first, so I keep everything relaxed and simple. I never expect you to perform for the camera. I use gentle prompts, movement and natural interaction so you can focus on each other rather than worrying about posing.

Do you take formal family photographs?

Yes. I always recommend having a small, organised list of key family photographs. I keep this part calm and efficient so everyone can get back to enjoying the celebration. I usually suggest keeping the list focused so it does not take over the day.

Do you offer engagement or pre-wedding shoots?

Yes. Engagement shoots are a brilliant way to get comfortable in front of the camera before the wedding. They also give us a chance to get to know each other, understand how you naturally interact, and create a lovely set of images before the big day.

What happens if it rains on our wedding day?

Rain does not ruin wedding photographs. Some of the most romantic and atmospheric images happen in softer weather. I always look for beautiful indoor light, sheltered areas, doorways, windows, umbrellas and creative opportunities, so you still have elegant photographs whatever the weather.

How far do you travel?

I photograph weddings across North Wales, Anglesey, Snowdonia, Gwynedd, Conwy, Cheshire, the North West and beyond. I am always happy to discuss travel for weddings further afield.

How would you describe your approach on the day?

Calm, friendly and unobtrusive. I want you to enjoy your day fully, not feel like you are constantly being pulled away for photographs. I document the day naturally, then guide you when needed for portraits, family photographs and key moments.
