Full Description
Magpie-Eye is a one woman band featuring myself as photographer, producer, planner, researcher and advisor to all you amazing brides and grooms out there with a vision for your wedding day. I specialise in alternative, destination weddings but I love shooting wherever your dream takes me and genuinely get excited hearing about your plans. With 7 years production and 20 years photography under my belt I have tons of great contacts and suggestions at the ready should you need/want them. My style of photography is predominantly creative documentary, in fact people often comment that they didn’t even know I was there taking pictures at the time! I aim to tell a story through photographs, showing not only the all important events but the time, place, character, details and anything else that catches my eye. However, I also really appreciate the value in a strong iconic portrait, especially at weddings, and love creating stylish but relaxed shots of groups, individuals and of course couples if that is your vibe. As an ex music photographer I really do pride myself on capturing fleeting moments and providing exciting images that you will be proud to share now, as well as look back on for many years to come. Weddings are among the most exciting, dynamic and satisfying events to photograph. I love the ‘characters’, the details, the dress, the flowers and as a photographer I even love it when things don’t go exactly to plan! Laughter at weddings is inevitable but the laughter that comes from long standing friendships and relatives is something really special.

Amazing photographer
Jenny photographed our wedding on the 28th December 2018. She was absolutely fantastic from start to finish and she put us at ease from our first meeting. Jenny captured our day perfectly, we couldn’t be happier with the photos and can not recommend her highly enough. She is an amazing photographer, extremely professional and did every thing that we asked! We can’t thank you enough for being a part of our special day xx

Pretty simple - Jenny is a fabulous photographer!
Pretty simple - Jenny is a fabulous photographer! We recently got our photos and just love them all! She was organised from start to finish, gave good tips and advice before and on the day to help things go smoothly and make sure we captured all the moments we wanted. Her photos really tell the story of the day. Professional, talented, creative friendly, easy-going and efficient - think that covers it! Thank you Jenny!

Told the story
Jenny was fantastic from the beginning to the end of organising and providing photos for our wedding on the 14th July. The outcome is brilliant, I love how vivid each photo is, with bright colours and great lighting on each one, the range of photos is great and they really told the story from our ceremony and after party. My family also love them and we can't wait to display them :D - Ria & Michael

Friendly and helpful
We absolutely loved the photos Jenny took and cannot thank her enough. All our family commented on how friendly and helpful she was on the day, and she was so patient with our 8 month old who didnt want to leave our sides! Would definitely recommend Jenny. Nicola & Iwan

Blown Away!
We couldn’t have been happier working with Jenny on our wedding. Personable and friendly, she put us and our guests at ease (not to mention how amazing she was on the build up to the day), and most importantly she has a fantastic eye and was able to discretely capture the mood of our day perfectly, as well as being totally flexible on the day schedule. We are both thrilled with everything we’ve seen, and we will definitely be recommending her to all our family and friends. Thanks again Jenny, we’re blown away.

“Jenny was well prepared, professional and punctual; using a questionnaire before the wedding and then arriving early on the day. She starting taking pictures straight away and really caught the moments, telling the story of our day with images we will cherish forever. I have been through the pictures at least 7 times and each time I notice something new. She was friendly and easy to get along with, fitting herself into the (organised) chaos discreetly. Jenny was flexible and willing to stay longer if we needed her to, and didn’t mind capturing requested shots whenever asked. She was organised and had the pictures ready promptly despite it being Christmas and then New Years. My friends and family love the pictures and two of my bridesmaids would like to book her for their big days in the future. Thank you Jenny, you did a truly amazing job!”

What is your most memorable wedding?

A traditional Sri Lankan ceremony in Dulwich Picture Gallery - what could have been a cultural clash resulted in the most beautiful unification of two families; top hats next to colourful sari's traditional drummers next to classic cars and ceremonial rice eating with an exchange of rings - it was a truly incredible day and I am honoured to have been involved.

Describe your style in 5 adjectives.

Creative, Stylish, Iconic, Relaxed, Atmospheric

What about your business are you most proud of?

My work - i LOVE photography and I LOVE taking pictures. I am definately stronger at the creative side of this industry but am trying to become more business savy as I really hope to expand even more this year.

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Plan as much or as little as you like in the build up but on the day just let it all flow - the greatest moments are imperfect and beautiful memories will be made whether you run on schedule or not.

What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?

200 hand folded origami cats as favours.

Describe your typical process with a couple.

Enquiries usually come through my website, I ask for some key details such as where and when the wedding will be taking place. I much prefer to provide bespoke quotes based on budget as every wedding is different but understand that some couples prefer not to share this upfront. Once an agreemebt has been reached I will issue a deposit for 20% of final cost - the date is reserved exclusively once this deposit clears. If a pre-meeting is required I will meet with the couple as and when suits to go through finer details, I also issue a qustionaire that helps me to plan my movements on the day, this is due two weeks before the wedding date. On the day I will be on hand to capture all the little details as well as the main events and happy to take additional requests if required. After the wedding day I will issue an invoice for remaining monies and set to work on editing. I usually get 2/3 sneak peeks out before the full set a maximum of 4 weeks after the wedding. If an album has been requested I will then liaise regarding which images are required and manage the production/delivery of that album.

What is the No. 1 photo that you think every couple should take?

Portraits together, away from guests if possible. It's just one day and capturing that emotion, that intimacy and that comfort with each other is a beautiful opportunity not to be missed in my opinion.

What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?

Get umberellas! Seriously though it depends on the couple - if they are happy to jump in the rain and get some gorgeous steamy shots I'm in! If they prefer to hover under trees or retreat to a comfy lounge I'm just as happy - its your day, you decide what and where and I'll follow and make it look awesome!

Describe how you got into photography.

I found an adandoned dark room at school in 1995, my art teacher helped set up all the developer trays etc and showed my how to use it. I was hooked.
