What is your most memorable wedding?
I have had so many amazing and memorable weddings from snowy streets in Sandwich to blazing hot safaris. Each and every wedding had a "wow" moment in its own way!
Describe your style in 5 adjectives.
Candid, natural, real, timeless and modern.
What about your business are you most proud of?
I starting my little business up all by myself with no prior involvement with other photographers or agencies! I used to be a teaching assistant in a little primary school and although I absolutely loved my job, all I kept thinking about was photography. I was asked to capture my friend's parents' wedding in September 2021 and I was hooked! I immediately knew that this is what I wanted to do and decided to put my everything into it. I gradually lowered my hours at the school and then worked in a little local nursery before taking the leap to become a full time wedding photographer in April 2023! The best decision I have ever made!
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Make time for just the two of you. The day goes SUPER quick. I will always try and leave a few minutes spare without me being there or anyone else there to let the couple have some alone time. Remember it’s YOUR day!
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
A guest tree! Ink pads are provided for the guests to make their fingerprint as a leaf on the tree. It’s a beautiful keepsake and a great way to remember all the people that shared your special day with you! I have also seen lots of polaroid cameras with props- it’s so fun and something for everyone. Also.. a barn dance with a ceilidh band followed by another live band for the first dance. It’s not for everyone- but my goodness it got everyone up dancing and is a great way to break the ice!
Describe your typical process with a couple.
So, first of all I will reply to your enquiry by email or text and arrange a time and date that suits you to discuss your wedding plans. This can be done over the phone, FaceTime/Zoom or in person if local. Once we have discussed your plans and you would like to book me in. I will write up the contract and email it over to you. You can take your time to read through and then at the time of signing, a 25% deposit is required. Your date cannot be secured without the deposit. The rest can be paid up to 2 weeks before the big day. And... that's it! We are wedding ready!
What is the No. 1 photo that you think every couple should take?
Your couples photos! Get close, smile, kiss, dance.. be silly, just keep moving! You’ll remember those the most!
What is the most original photo you’ve been asked to take at a wedding?
So, the bride was pregnant. No one knew apart from the groom and VERY close family. None of their friends knew.. and not all of the family. We did a little “reveal” photo of hers and grooms hands in the shape of a heart and the bride with her finger pressed on her lips (shh). It was just a beautiful moment.
What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?
I will ALWAYS bring umbrellas! I have 8 clear umbrellas, just in case! They make really cool wedding photos and we can do lots of puddle shots. I would totally embrace the rain and just go for the wet hair look, dance in the rain and get wet!
Describe how you got into photography.
Oh gosh.. where do I start. There is so much to love about photography. Capturing what you can see with your own eyes in a split of a second and making that last forever is something that I have always found rather endearing. I have so many memories of my childhood that I wish I had photographs of. People that have sadly passed away, girly sleepovers with friends, birthdays, Christmasses, holidays.. but not all of it was captured on camera. A day as important as your wedding should be captured in a way that you want to remember it for. The deep breaths before the walk down the aisle, the first time your dad sees you in your wedding dress, your first kiss as a married couple.. your grandparents reaction to a mention in the speeches. All these things that your memory may fade in years to come can be reignited through the precious photographs you have captured. I also love the way a certain light enhance a feeling or beautiful moment. The morning sunlight, the evening glow.. whatever it may be!
