Often complimented on my discreet and friendly approach to photography, I work in such a way as to ensure you spend as much time as possible time with your family and guests, while ensuring the vital photographs are all captured. Posed photographs need not be heavily posed & my photographs all look as relaxed and natural as possible.
The aim is to mix documentary photos of the wedding day with photos that capture every detail.

Lavenham Photographic started as a family business in the beautiful Suffolk Village of Lavenham many years ago. It is now operated by Ben from the office address in Sible Hedingham, close to Halstead, in rural Essex.
Lavenham Photographic has gained an exceptional reputation over the years.
We are extremely proud to be recommended by some of the region's leading wedding venues. Gosfield Hall, Leez Priory, Hedingham Castle and Channels in Essex and Smeetham Hall Barn, Haughley Park Barn and The Swan in Lavenham in Suffolk for example all recommended Lavenham photographic to couples booking their weddings.
Ben photographs weddings using only the best camera equipment and of course nothing but the finest quality lenses. He photographs in the RAW format, and edits on quality monitors using the industry's finest software and hardware. Photos came out amazing

Amazing natural photos
Ben captured my daughter’s wedding perfectly in every detail.
He was amazing throughout the day/evening helping organise as well as taking photos. He even lent his cufflinks to my father in law who had forgotten his.
The photos he has produced are just amazing, catching everyone in such a good way. The Bride & Groom photos are perfect!
The group photos are just the best.
Ben made everyone feel so calm and at ease which totally shows in his photos.
Can’t praise him enough!

Perfect photographer for the perfect day
We chose Ben to be our photographer after seeing his work recommended by our venue and taking a look at his website. We were so happy we did!
Ben was a pleasure to work with throughout - in the lead up to the wedding, on the day and post event. He came back quickly to emails, answered questions in detail and completely reassured us.
On the day itself Ben was a dream. He captured such beautiful photos of us, the venue and all of our guests. He gave us time to mingle with our guests and captured all the group shots we wanted. He was chatty and friendly with everyone.
He sent through pictures quickly anfterwards and created the most gorgeous album that captured our day.

The very best wedding photographer!
Choosing the right photographer was one of the parts of the day that we were dreading: we aren’t a couple that is particularly comfortable in front of a camera. Ben was a recommended photographer from both the venue and other people we had spoken to and we discussed our lack of confidence with him prior to booking.
He immediately made us feel at ease, talking about his passion for capturing beautiful photographs, his long-standing history with and knowledge of Leez Priory as a wedding venue and even agreed to do a pre-wedding shoot to help us get a feel for the type of photographs he shoots. He was fantastic - neither of us were nervous at all when it came to photos for the day, there was a mix of the traditional family/group shots but we both really enjoyed the ‘just married’ part of the day when it was photographs of just the two of us. It was my favourite part of the day, time as the new Mr and Mrs just being ourselves!
Our guests all said how wonderful he was and he made everyone feel very comfortable in front of the camera too. He took some fantastic shots and we couldn’t be more pleased with our wedding photographs.

What is your most memorable wedding?
I actually loved how personal the weddings during the covid restrictions were! Small church weddings and a picnic "back at 'Mum's" really felt cute and made you appreciate what a wedding should be about!
Describe your style in 5 adjectives.
My style changes between discrete and candid, getting more involved in arrangements if I know something is needed, but then back to discrete again as soon as I can. It' great when I'm told people didn't really know I was there, but at the same time I know I can step up and deal with people-management, and time-management, in a friendly way and never bossy or annoying! I love getting told I'm 'doing a great job' by family members, when they haven't even seen the photos yet!
What about your business are you most proud of?
I'm proud of how regularly I get comments about being 'the right sort of photographer' quite aside from quality photographs, people enjoying their wedding day, being put at ease and spending maximum time with guests, is just as important as great photos to look back on.
What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?
If you can't change the weather, you may as well embrace it! Later in the day, if you don't mind getting a little more damp, go get some dramatic rain photos, with off-camera lighting. They are so unique, I can't think of another time in your life you'll have a kitted-out photographer with you ready to get that sort of thing, so just treat it as another excuse for a unique photo!
Describe how you got into photography.
I trained up in the family business back in 2001, and I've now taken the business over, with over twenty years and 1000 weddings' experience!
