What is your most memorable wedding?
No two weddings are the same and all the weddings I've photographed have had memorable moments so it would be really hard to say! I'm so grateful for every couple that chooses me to be part of their big day that I could say that my first wedding is just as memorable and clear in my mind as my last one.
Describe your style in 5 adjectives.
Romantic, natural, joyful, carefree, fun
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Give yourself time. It can be tempting to cram in some parts of the day but always give yourself extra time in case things run over because they usually do for one reason or another. Give yourself 1 'chill' hour between finishing getting ready and the ceremony so you have time to take everything in and enjoy those special moments with your family and bridesmaids/groomsmen/attendants. Don't rush the period between your ceremony and dinner. If you're worried about your guests getting bored whilst you're away for photos - don't worry, we don't need to be away for that long. There are also so many great entertainment options out there to keep your guests occupied during this time. And remember, it's your time, your day.
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
One bride I photographed was amazing at calligraphy. She beautifully made and hand wrote all of her guests' place-names which also had a special personal message on the underside.
Describe your typical process with a couple.
The first step is to get in touch if you haven't already! I'll then send over my availability and a quote. We can also schedule a time to chat in person, over the phone or via Facetime/Zoom.
Booking me is super straightforward and can all be done through your online client portal. Simply accept your quote, answer a few questions about you both, sign the photography contract and pay a £250 non-refundable booking fee.
I'll be in touch regularly in the lead up to your wedding via email with planning tips and fun questionnaires to get to know you. We can also organise a pre-wedding or engagement session to get some practice in before the big day! This is also a great opportunity for us to get to know each other a little more.
During your wedding day, I'll be there as much as you need me to be but in the shadows shooting away when you don't. At the end of the day, it's your wedding not mine or anyone else's so I definitely don't like being the centre of attention!
You'll receive a sneak-peak gallery of 20 or so images within 2 weekdays of your wedding and then your full online gallery 4-8 weeks after your wedding. From there you'll be able to order an album or print any prints or other physical artwork from your personal online gallery store.
What is the No. 1 photo that you think every couple should take?
A confetti tunnel/line or sparkler exit photo! These make for great photographs that normally include quite a few of your guests. They are so fun to do and make great highlight images in your album or prints to blow up large for your wall or mantlepiece.
What is the most original photo you’ve been asked to take at a wedding?
A bride and her brother wanted to replicate a family-famous photograph of them from when they were young. It was a really fun but cute pose and it was a great way to mark how far they've come in life but they are still each other's best friend.
What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?
Umbrellas, sensible shoes and a sense of adventure!
Describe how you got into photography.
Photography wasn't what I set out to do after leaving school but somehow it found me and consumed me and I wouldn't have it any other way now!
I discovered my love for photography whilst studying Mathematics at Durham University. In my last year or two I began photographing my friends at our college formal dinners, balls and social events. They grabbed peoples attention and soon everyone wanted their photograph taken! In my last year, I ended up photographing the universities largest event which has been featured in Tatler and major newspapers. This was when I decided to think about possible photography careers instead of the finance route I had been planning on pursuing.
After graduating, I took a year out and somehow ended up in the world of nightlife photography. Over 3 years I photographed in more than 9 bars, clubs and venues in Aberdeen and photographed weekly the largest student nights in Aberdeen. I also started and completed my HND in Photography at North East Scotland College, finishing with a Grade A in both years.
Nightlife photography was fun and taught me so much, from dealing with drunk people to shooting in really low light and hard conditions, but it wasn't what I wanted to continue with as I got older. I shot my first wedding in 2018 and have never looked back. With the pandemic, it hasn't been easy as a young wedding business but I've enjoyed every single special day that I've been a part of and can't wait to see what the future holds.
