What is your most memorable wedding?
I've shot between 100-200 weddings and every single one of those days will stay with me forever. If I had to pick one that stands out it would be Kelsey's & Andy's boho-style wedding at Fforest Farm in Wales. If you like the great outdoors like me, you'll love this place. Think campfires, woodfired pizza and guests glamping onsite. They even have their own pub! The day started with a ceremony in a quarry in the forest and ended with everyone dancing the night away in a giant tipi. Extra special was the world's most stunning sunset across the fields. To see this day in all its glory head on over to my blog.
Describe your style in 5 adjectives.
Natural, candid, fun, informal, authentic
What about your business are you most proud of?
All of the tremendous reviews I've had from couples over the years!
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Don't follow the "rules" or traditions because you think it's the done thing. Do you what you like and what best suits you as a couple.
Describe your typical process with a couple.
Once I've received your enquiry I will arrange a phone call with both of you. I don't have a brochure for environmental reasons and I think it's much nicer to talk on the phone (or in person) to give you the opportunity to ask me questions. No two weddings are the same after all and I'd love to hear all about your plans for your big day. If you'd like to proceed once you've spoken to me, I will email you a contract and I also ask for a £200 deposit to secure the date for you.
Approximately one month before your wedding we'll touch base again. You can then bring me up to speed with all of your plans in a lot more detail. We would cover things like timings, where you're getting ready, group photos if you'd like any and anything else I'd need to know about. That way all three of us know exactly what to expect on the day itself.
What is the most original photo you’ve been asked to take at a wedding?
I was once asked to photoshop a T-Rex into an image. As a documentary photographer who captures the wedding day "as it happens" this request was most unusual. The couple in question, Charlotte & Rob, really liked my natural style but also wanted something a little different. Their lego/sunflower themed wedding wouldn't be complete without a shot of them and their bridal party running away from a giant dinosaur. I like to go above and beyond so I embraced their request and am very pleased to say that Charlotte & Rob now have a photo of themselves and their friends running across a field with an angry T-Rex in tow. (You won't see this image on my portfolio because it's not my usual style but by all means contact me if you'd like to see it!)
What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?
Umbrellas! Nice umbrellas make some for great photos in the rain.
