What about your business are you most proud of?
in 2015 I knew nothing about photography. Now in 2022 I've shot in excess of 100 weddings. My passion and obsession drives me to be great at it and do great work for couples. I'm also really proud of the brand perception I've built with my clients as someone who is a calming and enjoyable presence on an emotional day.
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
It's your day, no one else opinion matters. You do you.
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
A bride once had a magician come up with a trick just for the groom.
Describe your typical process with a couple.
I'll chat to couples quickly initially to break the ice and inform them of my process and begin the process of getting to know them. Then hold a consultation call where I can find out more about them and their wedding, and so that I can tell them all about the way I work leading up to their day and on their day. Then if they book they hear from me periodically as we countdown toward their wedding, and as we close in we hold a pre wedding call a couple of weeks out to make sure that the itinerary and logistics of the day are understood clearly so that we know exaclt whats happening and when, and where I need to be ay any given point in the day.
What is the No. 1 photo that you think every couple should take?
I really like the shot of couples coming back down the aisle personally - its one of your first as a married couple, and if taken well you get to capture to setting of where you tied the knot and all of your guests applauding. and I think it really symbolises the beginning of your celebrations and your new life together.
What is the most original photo you’ve been asked to take at a wedding?
One Groom was a huge fan of the TV show Supernatural and the Bride had rented him the iconic car to transport him to the venue as a surprise for him. So my job was to capture his reaction and it really was something quite special.
What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?
A venue that is great for all weather, a good attitude and a photographer that's good with flash.... like me.
Describe how you got into photography.
I actually got into it by accident. My wife bought me a camera when my son was born so that we could take nice pictures of him, and then I just got hooked. Before I knew it I had a home studio when a friend ask me to shoot her daughters wedding for a small cash sum and once I did a wedding I was hooked. I knew that I wanted to spend my days capturing people on the best day of their lives.
