Highly Recommend
We were delighted with the pictures from our big day. Everyone in the photographs looked so natural and relaxed, and we have no doubt that John's affable nature and consummate professionalism created the perfect environment for this.

Cheers John!
Couldn't recommend John highly enough. When you're organising a wedding, a photographer tends just to be one of those things to organise, but John ended up being a really important part of our day & we have some incredible images to remember it by. He even got up early in the morning to catch me & some of the other guests on a nerve-easing jog up Arthur's Seat, in full kilt! 5 stars for sure.

Chilled and cheery photographer
John was great at putting everyone at ease on the morning of the wedding and he was a good laugh to have around while the hair and makeup was being done. The photos from the ceremony and reception were fab and my best friend and her husband were delighted with the way the shots turned out. I’d definitely recommend.

Stunning memories!
John beautifully captured our special day from beginning to end, in such a relaxed and personal way- I couldn't have asked for anything more! His pictures have given us a much treasured record of all the classic arrangements, but also loads of lovely moments between family and friends which completely transform me back to the magic! He's a very talented photographer who sensitively and discreetly records all the special and beautiful aspect of your day, and somehow manages to enhance them even further in the final product! I'd highly recommend his services.

What is your most memorable wedding?

They've all been amazing! But Colan and Michelle's wedding near Santiago de Compostella in Northern Spain is certainly incredibly memorable as it was my first wedding outside the UK and teh scenery, light, weather, food was all so different. Loved it :)

Describe your style in 5 adjectives.

modern, fresh, relaxed, natural, reportage

What about your business are you most proud of?

All the weddings I've photographed have always sent me positive feedback on the day or afterwards. It's an incredible feeling when someone sees their images and tells me how much they love them.

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Pick a venue with lots of excellent natural light :)

What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?

I photographed the wedding of two friends recently and Emma, the bride, walked down the aisle with her father AND her mother. I'd never seen that before and while it seems like a simple concept it was very moving to see.

What is the No. 1 photo that you think every couple should take?

Holding hands and having a smooch! :)

What is the most original photo you’ve been asked to take at a wedding?

Heather and Abe wanted a Vanity Fair style photograph of all the bridesmaids and groomsmen in one of the grand rooms at Solsgirth House. One with everyone in white aviator sunglasses and one without. We had ten minutes to do it and managed to pull it off (see my images for the one without sunglasses). Absolutely crackers but great fun to shoot! And I think the picture turned out really well :)

What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?

Not to get too upset or down about it. It happens here in Scotland and a good photographer will work with you and your venue to get great shots inside. And why not make the most of the rain and get some dramatic shots with umbrellas?

Describe how you got into photography.

My father and grandad were both keen photographers so there were always film cameras lying around to experiment with. In my late teens I decided to give it a shot as a career so went to study at the then 'Glasgow College of Building and Printing'. I was then lucky enough to work in the National Trust for Scotland's photographic department for 8 years or so where I fine-tuned my craft and now find myself chasing the full-time self-employed dream!
