What is your most memorable wedding?
There have been many memorable weddings from the amazing locations of Malcesine Lake Garda, Venice and Treviso all in Italy but then there are special unique moments let me explain. I was shooting a small wedding at a venue very close to home and spotted a Lancaster bomber at low level heading towards us. Taking a moment to position the bride and groom, who hadn't spotted the plane at this point to get the aircraft above them I waited for the moment and took my shot. Afterwards the bride started to cry and I discovered her grandfather who recently passed use to be a rear gunner onboard the Lancaster during World War II, to her her grandfather made the moment and the wedding. Its not the locations but the special moments.
Describe your style in 5 adjectives.
Natural. Personal. Distinctive. Creative. Aesthetic.
What about your business are you most proud of?
Being able to capture the special moments and memories and presenting them in a timeless album.
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Sounds like self promotion but do not economise on the photographer. I hear so many stories from sisters, brothers etc of the couple getting married 'I wish I had......'
It is a general rule that 10-15% of your total budget is spent on your wedding photographs. A recent survey showed the average wedding costing £20000 so applying the 10% rule means a spend of £2000. However there is a hitch with this. This is a starting point, a basic, doesn't your day deserve more than a basic ?
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
I always like to see the Brides mother see her daughter arrive. Whether this is at a Church or just walk down the stairs at a Hotel. She can then be walked in by either the best man, usher or even the groom.
Describe your typical process with a couple.
Every couple is different so I offer a bespoke process for each one.
What is the No. 1 photo that you think every couple should take?
I believe that there isn't any one photograph you should have, the story of the day should be told with multiple images and with every wedding being different it isn't dependant on just one photograph. However, I believe that the story should start with preparation images, this then captures some of the anticipation and emotions and sets the scene for your wedding day story.
What is the most original photo you’ve been asked to take at a wedding?
------
What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?
When looking for a venue , take into account the interior of the building, not just the wonderful gardens. In addition to this choose a photographer that is creative and can show you indoor photography .Also there are some fabulous images that can be taken as creative rain shots.
