What is your most memorable wedding?
A beautiful DIY wedding in the Lake District. Everything had been produced by a family member from bunting and napkins to the floral arrangements and entertainment. The weather was very changeable but everyone embraced the rain when it came to photos. Even the bride didn't care when her dress got extremely dirty around the hem after walking through a field full of cow poo in order to get their couples portraits at the stunning tarn at the venue...... now that's MY KIND OF BRIDE :)
Describe your style in 5 adjectives.
Storytelling Relaxed Unobtrusive Fun Colourful
What about your business are you most proud of?
My weddings have mostly been word of mouth recommendations but a couple of my bookings have been straight up "I've seen your website and I want to book you now". I'm on the preferred suppliers list of one of the most unique wedding venues in Lancashire.
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Get to know your photographer well. They are just about the only person to be with you the entire length of your wedding day so you should certainly have a connection and you should be sure your photographer suits your ideals.
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
Hand painted pebbles as place settings .... perfect as a keepsake too.
Describe your typical process with a couple.
After our initial phone call (which is likely to be a long one!) we'll meet up for a coffee and cake or (my favourite) a gin at your favourite bar ~ my treat! We'll chat about the plans you have for your big day. By the end of this meeting we'll have decided or not if we're a match (you really should have a connection with your photographer). Should you wish to book I'll send all the paperwork to you. A 25% deposit is taken to secure your date.
I like to keep in touch with my couples in the time between booking and your wedding day for things like a venue consultation and to keep up with any ideas you may have for your photographs. Planning a wedding can be a stressful time so if you want some time out we can meet up for a drink and talk about all things "not wedding"
I'll be in touch a couple of months before your wedding to go over the fine details and timings for the day but I'm always available if you want to chat about anything in the meantime so don't be afraid to give me a call or send me a text.
What is the No. 1 photo that you think every couple should take?
For me it's got to be the confetti shower. I'm a self confessed confetti addict so the more you have the better .... it looks super colourful with loads of confetti.
What is the most original photo you’ve been asked to take at a wedding?
One of my brides wore Dr Marten boots for her wedding - gorgeous blue sparkly ones and she wanted a photo of her bouquet with them.
What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?
Definitely brollies. Wellies look cool on rainy day photos and if you don't mind getting wet we can get some epic creative photos on a rainy night.
Describe how you got into photography.
After doing landscape photography for many years and then switching to portrait photography where I did photo shoots for family and friends I shot my first wedding (after being reassured by my family that I "could do this") by being recommended by a friend and I found that I loved it! Who wouldn't? It's like being paid to attend THE best party celebrating such an epic day.
