Full Description
I am a wedding and elopement photographer based in the historic Edinburgh. With my work I seek to show natural emotions that unfold during the wedding day even if you consider yourselves camera-shy. As the day passes by quickly, I pay attention to photographing not only the couple but also the guests and details that might go unnoticed. I prefer using natural daylight and edit all images in a similar manner to tell the story seamlessly. I am always here to give my advice and opinion with any questions related to the visual setting of your day – from how to do your first look to which confetti would look best in photographs. Full day coverage starts at 2000 GBP. All collections include an online gallery and a USB pen drive in a wooden box. Prints and albums can be ordered separately. Full wedding day galleries can be seen on my website

A church wedding
Our wedding date was chosen randomly 07.07.2017. At the beginning of the year we were slowly trying to put everything together on the shelves and organize everything as soon as possible. It was only a little later that we realized that we had chosen the most requested date of the year. Since we plan everything ourselves, we also searched a lot for information on weddings on the Internet, magazines and exhibitions. We wanted everything to be perfect because it is our holiday. It was important to find a modern photographer with a fresh look at such an important event. Not just to come and execute your work according to a template, but to approach the whole process with special style and enthusiasm. At the wedding exhibitions we were not approached by the photographers we saw and their work. Then we started searching the Internet. Of course, FB and other sites were loaded with info and had to work through everything until we found the right one. There were a lot of portfolios reviewed and a lot of reviews read because such a serious event had to prepare for everyone 100%. Speaking to each other about what we expect from the photographer and what style we want to see reflected in our day, we came to the common denominator. We needed soft pictures (not bright and eye-catching), muted, cordial. It was important to make contact with the photographer as a friend, not to feel disturbed in his day, to be present, but at the same time unnoticeable. We are looking for pleasant, cordial communication, and that was important too. We were looking for someone who sees the world through our eyes, with whom we share a view of an event that experiences the magic of the moment. Ilva's portfolio appealed to us, she liked everything, the color gamut, her style and the sincerity, depth and sincerity of the moments she captured. We made an appointment. When we saw Ilva in the cafe we were a little scared. Young student student, will you be able to take everything seriously and seriously ?! After talking to her and reviewing the portfolio, laughing together, we realized she was the real one! Our wedding day was approaching. Ilva and I talked about a plan for when the day will start, where we want to be photographed. She listened to our wishes and offered her advice. Communication was easy and unobtrusive. In our day, we expected everything as we had planned. A photographer with a great mood and a sense of humor. It was difficult to choose which pictures to take when making the album because there are many and they are really beautiful. Favorite, of course, are portrait pictures and pictures in nature. When we had a daughter and we were ready for the photo session, we already knew we were going to turn to Ilva. It is easy and pleasant to work with, the result is very good, the number of pictures is great, good emotions and memories are guaranteed!

Elopement in May
Hi Ilva, Wow, thank you!!!! We love them! Goodness, so many, as well! I like the selection you chose, they are perfect. Still working through the larger group, but it's lovely to have so many to look at. I am spoiled for choice, I don't know what to print as they are so good. I think many of my faves are the little details, the ring shots, Steve sitting with his shoes off by the bbq, the ones of me and my flowers sitting at the table as we walked round, and I love the ones of me leaving the roulotte and us walking round to get married. The bridge backdrop is beautiful, and hilltop just dreamy. Neither of us can remember what we were laughing about when we were drinking the champagne! The only thing missing is a picture with you in, we really should have taken one. Thank you again, we are so happy with them! Best wishes, Amy

What is your most memorable wedding?

I remember all of my weddings, even the shortest ones.

Describe your style in 5 adjectives.

Contemporary, candid, colourful, consistent, calm

What about your business are you most proud of?

That I am managing everything myself from start to finish.

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Plan your day with 1h in reserve, as everything will run slightly late no matter where you are holding the event and what activities are planned.

What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?

To help my bride deal with insects trapped in the tulle, adjust groom's tie and carry the heavy bouquet. Also I am not shy tell other people to temporary move out of the frame when visiting a beautiful location for the photographs.

What is the No. 1 photo that you think every couple should take?

A confetti shot for weddings and elopements alike.

What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?

A pair of rubber boots and a transparent umbrella.

Describe how you got into photography.

Wasn't that good at drawing and my friend introduced me to photography. We started at the same time but as it often happens she quit and I continued to photograph.
