What is your most memorable wedding?
Definitely photographing our first wedding as husband and wife. It was just 3 days after our own wedding and was at the exact same venue...how could we turn it down??
Describe your style in 5 adjectives.
Modern, natural, relaxed, documentary, artistic
What about your business are you most proud of?
How many awesome couples we've met, photographed and became good friends with, as well as how much we've grown as a full time business in just 4 years.
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Entertain your guests! If your guests are happy, you'll be happy. If everyone is happy your photos will always be amazing! Also, your timeline will slip...so add more time than you need, but DON'T stress about it! Your guests won't know and it actually doesn't matter. We missed a whole section of beach games out of our own wedding because everyone was still eating canopes and drinking cocktails. Didn't matter one bit as everyone was enjoying themselves.
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
A surfer groom made his surfer bride an awesome longboard skateboard. She kicked her heels off and rode it in her wedding dress and we got some great shots!
Describe your typical process with a couple.
After initial enquiry we usually arrange to meet in person for an informal chat. This could be at our place, the couples' place, a coffee shop or sometimes we meet at the venue. On the occasions where we've been booked by couples not local to us we may Skype or have a phone call. Either way, an informal meet and greet is essential to make sure our couples get to know us and understand exactly what they can expect on their day. Our aim is to answer any questions the couple may have and also to put their mind at rest so they have one less thing to worry about leading up to wedding. Upon booking we take a 25% booking fee and the remaining balance is to be paid up to one month before the big day. Some couples pay it off straight away...some wait until closer to the day and some pay it off in monthly instalments. We are happy to accommodate whichever way best suits our couples. We contact the couple around 4 weeks before the day to ask for a timeline of the day, addresses for bridal prep, groom prep, ceremony and reception as well as a list of names for the group shots. We then turn up and shoot your day trying to be as un-obrtusive as possible, capturing natural moments of the day as it unfolds. We do a sessions shortly after the ceremony where we take some formal group shots and then some couples shots of just the bride and groom. We are often still shooting after the first dance and beyond, depending on the couples timeline and requirements. Every photo we take and keep is professionally edited by us. Once finished we upload the photos to a password protected online gallery and then to a branded USB stick which is delivered to your home address.
What is the No. 1 photo that you think every couple should take?
Grooms first sight of the bride
What is the most original photo you’ve been asked to take at a wedding?
Bride and groom's dog carrying the rings down the aisle.
What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?
Umbrellas, indoor entertainment and a 'never mind!' attitude!
Describe how you got into photography.
Pete worked in a camera store from the age of 18 to 21 and got into weddings second shooting for a friends father. Eventually after being asked by friends, family of friends and friends of family of friends to do weddings we decided to look at it as a possible business venture, not realising how much we'd enjoy it, as well as how much interest we would get. We are now completely full time as husband and wife and we absolutely love it!
