I'm David, and I've been photographing weddings across Scotland for years now - Glasgow, Edinburgh, Loch Lomond, Ayrshire, the Borders, wherever the day takes me. My style is documentary-led and relaxed: I'd rather catch your gran laughing during the speeches than line you up against a wall and ask you to "look natural." Most couples I work with tell me they hate having their photo taken. Good. Me too. We'll get on well!
Simply put, less posing, less faff and I make the day about you enjoying yourself and maximising time with your guests. I shoot the day as it happens rather than as I'd like to direct it. You'll get the real moments - the emotions at the speeches, the fun on the dancefloor, your dad welling up - alongside a bunch of beautifully composed couple portraits when the light's right. No spending hours on formal shot lists. No awkward prompts. Just your day, gorgeously captured.
All over Scotland, no extra charge across the central belt and within 90 minutes of my base. Further afield (Highlands, Islands, North-East, England) is no problem either - I'll just factor in travel and accommodation if needed and give you a clear indication of cost. Destination weddings outside Scotland? Get in touch, I'm always up for it!
Three options, named for how much of your day they cover:
Always happy to put together something bespoke just for you if none of these quite fit your plans.
Yes, but kept short and sane! I'll usually recommend up to 10 family group combinations rather than the traditional 25-person spreadsheet. Tell me who's important to you and we'll get them done in 15-20 minutes max, then back to the drinks!
Lightly and if it works for you, but not in a stuffy way. I'll find good light, suggest a starting point, and then mostly encourage you to be yourselves. We'll go for a walk and the rest naturally unfolds.
Send an enquiry through Bridebook or my website. I'll get back within 48 hours, usually faster. We can have a no-pressure chat - phone, video, or coffee if you're local - about your day, your venue, what you're hoping for. If we're a good fit, brilliant. If we're not, I can happily point you toward a photographer who is.
Yes, fully. Every couple gets the same approach regardless of who they're marrying - the same warmth, same relaxed, documentary style, same lack of awkward posing. I've photographed same-sex weddings across Scotland and would be genuinely delighted to shoot yours.
Embrace the rain! We live in Scotland and rain is part of our everyday lives - it doesn't matter when your wedding takes place, the risk of rain is generally quite high so it's best to rock those bridal umbrellas and embrace it for some dramatic outdoor photographs!
This depends on the package and how long the day runs, but typically 400-600 fully edited images for a full day, sometimes more! I do prioritise quality over quantity - I aim to give you a beautiful, gallery of all the best bits to complete the story of your day.
