What is your most memorable wedding?
A wedding I did for a couple in Manchester. Memorable because during the evening celebrations a number of the guests, who were all amazing singers, got together to perform a number of rousing songs from musicals, which the groom himself joined in with. It was like being in the middle of the stage at a West End theatre musical. A really awesome experience and one I've never forgotten.
Describe your style in 5 adjectives.
friendly, relaxed, fun, unobtrusive, documentary
What about your business are you most proud of?
The part I'm always proud of is the comments I hear back about the experience the couples, family and guests had with me on the day. Then seeing the reactions to the final unveiling of the photos.
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Don't worry about what everyone else does, just do your thing, make the wedding your day. Most of all relax and enjoy the day. More than anything that's really what makes the best wedding photos.
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
Nothing in particular but it's alway cute when the family pets get involved.
Describe your typical process with a couple.
Really straight forward and simple. Usually we start off with a consultation call. If you decide to book a questionnaire and contract is sent out to complete and sign. A deposit is also needed to secure your date at this point, the final balance isn't due until 14 days prior to the wedding date. In the lead up to your wedding, usually about 2-4 weeks before, we will make arrangements for a pre-wedding catchup call to double check the details of the day. After this it is just a matter of relaxing and enjoying one of the best days of your life. The final edited images of the wedding are then delivered in a password protected online gallery, usually about 6-8 weeks after the wedding.
What is the No. 1 photo that you think every couple should take?
I don't think there is one thing that every couple must do. Everyone is different and each wedding day is unique.
What is the most original photo you’ve been asked to take at a wedding?
Maybe the one with of a performer dancing in the top of a giant cocktail glass in front of the newly married couple, followed by the firing of a confetti canon over the couple.
What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?
Embrace the weather, whatever it is and have fun. It all makes for great photos.
Describe how you got into photography.
I was inspired by a well known local photographer who I knew and got in to photography by first of all assisting them. I didn't realise how much I would love it until I started going to weddings to photograph. I loved the experience and the thrill of creating lasting memories for the couples and their families and the joy it gave them to see the photos showing how much they all enjoyed their wedding day.
