What is your most memorable wedding?
One of the most memorable weddings for me was one where the groom was part of a rugby team and the vibes all day were incredible, it was such a fun day to be a part of. My fave moments from this wedding, in no particular order: the groom and groomsmen showing off their budgie smugglers that they were wearing under their suits, the bride being thrown into the air by the groomsmen, the groomsmen wrapping the bride's dress in an old sheet and surrounding her with umbrellas to stop her getting wet whilst walking in the rain to the church, the beautifully choreographed first dance, the champagne spray that turned into a shower for the bridal party!
Describe your style in 5 adjectives.
Relaxed, fun, natural, friendly, creative.
What about your business are you most proud of?
It sounds super cliché, but for me making memories that will last a lifetime is what I most proud of. Everytime I received a heartfelt thank you or review, I can't help but feel all giddy and warm inside! Knowing that a couple will be looking at my photos in years to come, sharing them with family and friends, is such an honour and a privilege - I really do feel like I have the best job in the world.
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Keep the formal group shots to a minimum! Unless you plan on printing most of these photos, keep the list short and sweet and don't worry about adding photos to please extended family members. Even in the best scenario when all of the guests are easy to get hold and haven't disappeared to the bar/toilet/hotel room, they still take up a significant portion of your cocktail hour. This will reduce the time you have to mingle with your guests and also the amount of candid photos I can take!
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
I love it when couples involve their fur babies in their wedding, but sometimes it's not always practical! One of my couples chose to include their beloved cat in their wedding day by creating a cocktail named after him and making rice paper illustrations of their cat to float on top of these drinks!
Describe your typical process with a couple.
From the booking process to the wedding day, my couples know they contact me to ask absolutely anything! After booking, I provide a timeline of the steps leading up to and after the big day. I organise a pre-wedding video call around a month before the wedding to discuss all the details of the day and get to know each other a little better. After the wedding, I send previews within a few days and the full gallery is ready in 6-8 weeks.
What is the No. 1 photo that you think every couple should take?
A relaxed photo of you both enjoying a moment together away from the hustle and bustle of the wedding.
What is the most original photo you’ve been asked to take at a wedding?
The groom's family wanted some bar photos of them drinking, which somehow turned into the groom lying on the floor and the dad pouring beer from head height into his mouth...needless to say it went all over his face!
What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?
Don't stress about it! Some of the most beautiful photos I've taken have been on rainy wedding days. If you have a long dress, don't worry about it getting dirty, the photos and fun memories last so much longer than a dirty dress!
Describe how you got into photography.
I've always enjoyed photography as a hobby, and dabbled in landscape and wildlife photography growing up. I found I enjoyed the thrill of photographing people more than anything, and that excitement when you 'get the shot' was addictive! This led me down the path of wedding photography and I haven't looked back.
