Amanda Balmain Photography Full Description
My couples are honestly nice, laid-back people. The most important part of the day to them will be the ceremony and the fact that they get to be married to each other. Other than that they just want their family and friends there to celebrate with them and for it all to be captured beautifully. If that sounds like you then we could be right for each other. I like to meet with my couples before they book but I am able to arrange this over Skype if necessary. I offer engagement shoots and consultations prior to the wedding day. I like to get to know my couples and make sure that I'm fully prepared for each wedding. On the day you will find that I am calm and quiet. I like to work mainly in the background making only minor adjustments to get beautiful looking images. My packages range from 6 to 10 hours coverage and include fully edited images that can be seen in a password protected online gallery. I also offer albums, thank you cards and wall art such as canvas and metal prints.

Frequently Asked Questions
(10)

What is your most memorable wedding?

Probably my first London wedding. It was at the Institute of Contemporary Arts on The Mall which is an amazing venue.

Describe your style in 5 adjectives.

Romantic, Honest, Fun, Beautiful, Dreamy.

What about your business are you most proud of?

My happy clients that all have such lovely things to say about their photographs.

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Never lose sight of why you are doing this and what matters most to you.

What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?

Hand-made glass decorations by the bride's Mum.

Describe your typical process with a couple.

Initial meeting, after booking we stay in touch throughout the planning process via email and social media. Often we meet for an engagement shoot at some point. About a month before the wedding we will meet and go through all the details of the day and timings. For most weddings I am there from 2 hours before the ceremony until after the first dance. I have a 4 week turnaround for delivery of edited digital files. I then liaise with my couples over albums, lay-outs and prints.

What is the No. 1 photo that you think every couple should take?

A beautiful portrait of the two of you that captures some of the emotion of the day.

What is the most original photo you’ve been asked to take at a wedding?

The groomsmen showing their superhero T-shirts that were hidden underneath their suits.

What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?

Umbrellas! Just make sure you have spoken with your photographer and that you have a rainy day plan in place.

Describe how you got into photography.

Many years ago my hobby was wildlife photography. Then I started shooting children's portraits after my two children were born. A friend convinced me to join her on a wedding photography course and I realised how much the industry had changed since my wedding in 2000. I was hooked and haven't looked back.
